There are no special effects when your teacher makes your first wizard hat, but it certainly feels magical 💫💛

Day 1-3 of @drawtober !!! 💫

Starting with the prompt “witch’s” with Arthur! A silly young elf who sees the best in everyone. I’m challenging myself to two things: gif art and revisiting my fantasy characters from my hs/college years. 🧝🪄

This month, we featured Erika Ilumin Wahlberg (@eiluminart). She is a California-based writer and illustrator. Her art draws from fairytales, myth, and all that is wonderfully strange. She aims to create art that resonates with viewers of all ages, offering a sense of wonder while honoring the complexity of the world we inhabit.

Here’s the illustration she made for the theme 🏖️BEACH🏖️:

“Beach Day” is a mixed-media piece I painted up to capture the excitement of being a child during the summer time. In the back of my mind I thought about how every time my family took me to the beach I would charge for the shoreline, whether or not the water was ice cold. I was too happy to care.

I keep finding myself trying to explain myself more but as is this feels very vulnerable already 🫣

These two symbolic “self-portraits” of mine have been so important to me and I never took the time to talk/explain them! My talented friend @kliffordstattoos played with these characters designs and made the most beautiful tats everrrr.
