we’ve made it to colorado and this is for sure one of the most unreal places i’ve ever been!! the mountains on one side and the dunes on the other are so surreal- but i don’t recommend wearing sandals to walk through burning hot sand… 🏜️ taken in Great Sand Dunes National Park by @ej.fieldnotes

project #4 🗺️!! last one best one! by far the most difficult but the most rewarding hike we’ve done- we mapped folds of the metamorphic hondo group in rattlesnake gulch! we also stopped by a pegmatite mine and found so many beautiful samples. so sad that this is the last project we’re going to do but… let’s head to colorado!! taken in Rattlesnake Gulch Trail by @ej.fieldnotes

project #3 🍳! we measured pH, temperature, conductivity, and size of the sulphur springs in valles caldera. this was by far my fav project but definitely a stinky one!! taken in Valles Caldera by @ej.fieldnotes

project #2 🪨 for the books! we spent the past couple of days in abiquiu filling in topo maps with the corresponding rock layers! my personal fav is the uppermost unit of the estrada fm. which is a beautiful yellow!! now it’s time to get funky with valles caldera… taken in Abiquiu, New Mexico by @ej.fieldnotes

project #1 ⛰️ we’ve been mapping the servilleta basalts along the rio grande gorge. part 1 was taken from an outcrop and part 2 was from inside the gorge! lots of strat columns happening over here… onto project #2! taken in Rio Grande Gorge by @ej.fieldnotes
