Kenya, through the eyes of a Nigerian traveller 🇳🇬🇰🇪

Now that I’ve experienced Kenya, I had to put together a little guide for anyone thinking of visiting.
From travel requirements and where to stay to what to eat, places to explore and the little things worth knowing before you go, here’s your starting point.

One thing I love about exploring Africa is discovering how much each destination has to offer. Kenya is more than a safari, and your experience can be as adventurous, laid-back, luxurious or culturally immersive as you want it to be.

If Kenya has been on your travel list, consider this your sign to start planning. ✈️

Save this post for your next trip to Kenya, and tell me: would you choose Nairobi, the safari or the beach first?

Follow @ejeomahzz for more.

Whether you’re travelling solo, with your partner, with friends or as a family, I curate travel experiences to suit your travel style.
I also have a trip planned for December. Comment “KENYA” to get more details about the trip.

Things I discovered about Mombasa as a Nigerian 🇳🇬🇰🇪 | Part 2

I went to Mombasa expecting beautiful beaches, but I left appreciating so much more about this coastal Kenyan city. ❤️

Walking through Mombasa Old Town felt like stepping into another era. From the Swahili culture and historic architecture to the influence of Islam, there was so much history woven into everyday life.
But some of my favourite memories weren’t even the typical tourist attractions. 😂

It was discovering the cassava chips that I still think about, meeting a Kenyan man who invited us to eat Ugali, and noticing little things that reminded me of home in Nigeria.

Mombasa felt different, yet strangely familiar. And perhaps that’s one of the beautiful things about travelling within Africa: discovering how different our cultures are while finding little connections between us.

If you’re planning a trip to Mombasa, don’t just visit for the beaches. Make time for Old Town, explore the local food, talk to people and allow yourself to experience the city beyond the tourist attractions.

🇰🇪 Have you visited Mombasa? What surprised you most about the city?

🇳🇬 And if you’re Nigerian, did any of these observations remind you of home?

Save this for your next Kenya trip, and follow @ejeomahzz for more African travel guides, cultural discoveries, itineraries and practical travel tips.

So your Pharmacist/Doctor is not trying to annoy you. 😂 When we ask if you’ve completed your antibiotics, warn you not to double a missed dose, or remind you not to share your medicines, we’re not trying to make your life difficult. We’re trying to make sure your medicines actually help you without causing avoidable harm.

Please, let’s stop:
💊 Stopping antibiotics just because we feel better.
💊 Sharing medicines because they worked for us.
💊 Taking someone else’s prescription because “we have the same symptoms.”
💊 Doubling a dose because we forgot the previous one.
💊 Storing medicines anyhow, especially in places exposed to heat, moisture or direct sunlight.

And please, missing a dose doesn’t automatically mean you should take two. What to do depends on the specific medicine, so check the patient information leaflet or ask your pharmacist/prescriber.

I’m Ijeoma, a pharmacist who believes health education should make sense in real life.

Which of these have you seen someone do or maybe done yourself? 👀 We listen 👂🏽we don't judge here Let’s talk in the comments.

Save this post for your next medicine-cabinet moment, and share it with someone who needs the reminder.

A random morning in Kenya. 🇰🇪🤎

My second time here, and somehow, I’m reminded all over again of how beautiful life can be.

There’s so much to see, so much to experience, and so many possibilities waiting for us. It just makes me want to dream bigger, work harder, and create a life that allows me to experience more of it.

For now, though, I’m just grateful to be here. 🥰

I didn’t have much of a picture in my head before visiting Old Town Mombasa, but walking through it was such a pleasant surprise. 🇰🇪

There’s so much character in the streets from the colourful doors and architecture to all the little details you notice as you wander around. You can really see the different cultural influences woven into the area.

And the best part of this is that It doesn’t feel like a museum. People actually live, work and go about their everyday lives here.

Would you explore this side of Mombasa or head straight to the beach? 👀

I’ve been to Kenya before, but this trip still managed to SHOCK me 😂🇰🇪

From how TALL the buildings in Nairobi are, to the completely different weather in Nairobi vs Mombasa, the cashless lifestyle, and the fact that people somehow knew we were Nigerian before we even said it 😭😂

Kenya, you really said “you thought you knew me?” 😂

If you’ve been to Kenya, what was the one thing that surprised you the most? 👀🇰🇪

And if you haven’t been yet, which one of these would shock you the most?

Save this for your Kenya trip 🇰🇪 and send it to someone planning a trip!

Grief is complicated. Grieving is even more personal and sometimes, the things we say to someone who is grieving even when we mean well can hurt more than we realise.

We often say these things because we don’t know what else to say. Sometimes we genuinely mean well. But grief doesn’t have one appearance, one timeline, or one correct way to behave.

Someone can cry every day.
Someone else might barely cry.
Someone might go back to work.
Someone might need to be alone.
Someone might laugh, travel, dance, or even go out with friends and still be carrying an enormous amount of pain.

You don’t always know what is happening inside someone just by looking at them and really, sometimes the most compassionate thing you can do is resist the urge to explain their grief, rush their grief or police how they grieve. You don’t have to fix it.

Sometimes:
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m here.”
“You don’t have to talk.”
are enough.

Now I’m curious: what’s something people say to grieving people that you wish we would stop saying? Drop it in the comments. 👇🏾 And if you’ve ever heard something that made your grief harder, you don’t have to share the personal story, just share the phrase. ❤️

Save this. Send it to someone who needs the reminder.
