Learning to chip with @ejmanuel3 and @lcohenpga at the Start to Finish Golf Academy.

A chip shot is defined as a shot with minimum air and maximum roll. These shots should be played when you cannot putt and the ball is just off the edge of the green (no more than 10-15 feet). In day one, we were using a nine iron from about 35-40 feet away. In day two, we use the pitching wedge from about 30 to 35 feet away.

When you chip, you use different clubs depending on how much you want the ball to roll, but you always land the ball on the edge of the green and let it roll into the hole.

My long awaited first session with @ejmanuel3 was a tremendous success. We focused on solidifying his grip, stance width and ball position. While his in swing thought was to simply keep head steady and behind the ball through impact.

EJ is very coachable and committed to the changes with just a few friendly reminders. It’s a pleasure to work with athletes who are open to making changes necessary in order to get better. Looking forward to the next session.
