Exactly ✨1 month✨ until I start medical school!!! 😱 It still feels surreal sending emails with “incoming medical student.” I’m also experiencing waves of excitement and nervous anxiety 🤯 I wanted to include some fun info about myself in this first post 😊

1. I feel so lucky to have lived in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego, & Boston over the years! 🤠 I’ve met so many incredible individuals along the way & learned so much about myself 🫶🏻

2. I have a Master’s in Biomedical Informatics & a Master’s in Medical Sciences! I am hoping to continue to intersect my clinical interests with informatics in med school 🤓💻

3. I previously worked in a neonatology lab studying chronic lung disease of premature infants 🫁. It was there I had the opportunity to experience life-changing pregnancies & follow resilient infants through their NICU stay solidifying my pursuit of medicine 💜

4. My current clinical interests include maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, pediatric pulmonology, and geriatrics (VERY recently) 🩺

Time to enjoy the rest of summer break!! ☀️😎

Concluded orientation week with our white coat ceremony! 🤍 I officially start school on Monday as a ~ student doctor ~ 👩🏻‍⚕️🩺

It’s been such a humbling journey to get to this position 😭 Applying and getting into medical school is a HUGE challenge. It took me multiple cycles to really understand all the moving parts and self-reflect on choosing this career 🥼

My friends & family have sacrificed so much to allow me to be in this position. I am so lucky to have friends that stayed by my side through rejections, took the time to help me prep for interviews, and made the effort to keep our friendships alive when I was deep in the grind ❤️‍🔥My mom dreamed of being a doctor too, but English is hard in a new country and she put her kids first! I’m so privileged to be the next generation that had the chance to fulfill OUR dreams✨

I still remember sitting in my mentor’s office when I didn’t get into medical school AGAIN. She urged me to stay resilient & never give up reminding me that she also didn’t get into medical school her first try either. Fast forward to present time where she’s the division chief at a top academic institution. I’ll never forget her mentioning that everyone is going to be smart in this profession, but it’s the hard work, resilience, and poise that will set individuals apart. I am so grateful to have mentors who never gave up on me! I hope to return the favor one day to another aspiring medical student 🫶🏻

I used to listen to Fly at the end of my runs, so it became my motivational song over the years 😂

Officially done with 1 month of M2!! 😱 It really flew by!! 🏃🏻‍♀️I feel like I learned so much foundational medicine that we will continue to build on 🧗🏻‍♀️

Pulmonology, cardiology, endocrinology, & renal embryology, histology, and physiology final exam 😮‍💨✅

Neck, paranasal cavity, and thoracic cavity anatomy practical 🎤✅

Shoutout to all my classmates who taught me so much leading up to the practical 🧎🏻‍♀️🙌

Don’t forget to treat yourself friend 💗

Volunteered at a pediatric pop up clinic 💛 Did physical exams on patients from 18 months to 18 years old 🤠

So excited my besties are only 1 hour from me now!! 😌 Much needed yap & good eats session ♥️

Back to the community clinic 🩺 On that day, we had a patient case needing extensive medication management (great experience!!) But, I realized that I needed to lock in my autonomic drugs big time 🙇🏻‍♀️

I love when what we’re learning in school aligns with real life clinic experiences 🤓👩🏻‍💻

Soft serve season is the best season 🍦

What I saw in clinic 👩🏻‍⚕️🩺:
• Adult & child wellness visits
• Opioid-induced constipation
• Pain management
• Anxiety
• Insomnia
• Hypertension
• Diabetes

🌼I really like interacting with kids and paying attention to small details, but I am curious about seeing kids in higher acuity settings and across different ages/stages of development (possibly considering shadowing pediatric ICU/hospitalist) 🤔

🌼I have been thinking a lot about family medicine & the breadth it covers, but I need more inpatient/specialties & surgery exposure to really get a sense 🧐

🌼I think I might be a prisoner of the moment kind of person with lots of interests 🥲

Officially survived the first week of M2!! 💫 Could not have asked for a better (and last) med school summer break 🥲❤️‍🩹

We’re starting off in foundations of organ systems: pulmonology, cardiology, renal, and endocrine. Lots of anatomy, embryology, histology, & physiology at the moment 🤓

M1 summer highlights:
