I wasn’t supposed to make it. I had every odd stacked up against me. Muslim, first generation, West African, Black, couldn’t speak English, got held back several grades, severe bullying and isolation, hard family dynamic, raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly, you name it. I came from scraps and built my own legacy with the scraps.

Howard university was the best decision I ever made; it gave me a platform, access, and a forever home and family that helped me throughout every single step of my journey. All the nights spent studying, the nights where I didn’t know where my next meal may come from, to so much more. God always sent an angel to help me and make sure I could get through the next day. Today I walked the stage and all that sacrifice was worth it.

Through these four years I have evolved into a woman who knows no limitations, and I’m not done yet. This really is just the beginning of my story.
