In Summer 1976 I lived with the remarkable family of @lulymeza in Aguascalientes, Mexico--a family that my brother, Michael, had lived with for the entire previous year as a Rotary Club Exchange student. It was Luly's father, Carlos, who arranged unexpectedly for me to play with the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Aguascalientes. What a fun summer that was. In the last photo you see me standing with no instrument; that was because the band had surprised me on a Sunday morning the day before I was leaving Mexico to serenade me in the courtyard under the balcony of the apartment where I lived. You can see me looking up at the balcony to the family members who came to toast that amazing musical send-off. 🇲🇽

André (Previn) wanted to prove to his manager, Ronald Wilford that he knew how to save a buck ($$). He had the idea that we would walk to the local German butcher and choose his favorite foods he coveted from childhood in Berlin so we made ourselves a picnic and documented it for Ronald. 📸

Our Holiday Inn-style hotel rooms were provided by concert sponsor, BASF. André loved that the furniture in our rooms were, dorm style, attached to the wall including the bed and the desk; the one hotel elevator fit only one person and barely one suitcase at a time.

For 2 days every time we got into the hotel elevator André liked to translate from the German for me the sign that hung outside the elevator door. It read,

"In case of gas attack do not use
the elevator”

There is a speaker system backstage at Symphony Hall that allows the musicians to be called to stage by the Boston Symphony Orchestra Personnel Manager.
Sometimes an anxious Maestro—waiting for the 20 minute intermission to end--decides to take matters into his own hands 😂 #backstagelife #behindthescenes

“We are cruising towards Boston airport. Ahh, the weather is fine. We will be landing in about 20 minutes. Thank you all. Bye….. fasten your seatbelts, please” #behindthescenes #backstage scenes taken in Symphony Hall Boston by @ekusmin

This is Congressman, Ben Bowman, Oregon State Rep; and that is my godson, Seth Dugan-Knight (Chief of Staff) who Bowman just shouted out on the Oregon House floor. Seth is looking a little stunned 😳.
(The bill that just passed in the Oregon House will serve to limit big finance's presence in health care. Now onto the Oregon Senate🤞).
Go Seth! ❤️
