Built in the 16th century, this Castilian manor house was originally the residence of the prior of the Monastery of Oña and the centre for collecting tribute from nearby villages. Although a fire in 2011 razed its interior, the solid stone walls stood as witnesses to centuries of history.

In 2017, the Atienza family undertook its restoration. Today, El Priorato is a welcoming refuge in the north of Burgos, where history is still alive and the natural surroundings invite you to disconnect and enjoy.

🚩 The Madrid Escapes.
📍El Priorato de Trespaderne, 3 hours 40 minutes (329 km)

I stumbled upon @el.priorato quite recently and thought it deserved a space in this account.

Set in a tiny village in northern Burgos, this 16th-century manor was once the residence of the Prior from the nearby Monastery of Oña. After a fire destroyed the interior in 2011, it was beautifully reimagined by @atienzamaure — preserving the original stone walls while flooding the inside with natural light.

If you’re into clean lines, thoughtful design, and quiet countryside charm, this one’s a gem. It feels more like stepping into a modern sanctuary than just checking into a hotel.

Architecture lovers: you’ll want to see this one for yourself.
