Social wellness, in practice, is what happens when you stop doing the work of regulating your nervous system alone.

At El Ritual, that means sauna, cold plunge, sound, breath, and rest happen in small groups, shared vibes, shared heat, shared recovery. Maybe you even share some conversation… :)

Science we are obsessed with: The nervous system calms faster next to other people doing the same thing. This works especially well for those who struggle to slow down.

We are a community-based practice, and we can’t wait to have you here.

Soooooooooooooo much more to share, but here’s a peek of what things look like about 2 months from open. Go on , have a peek. It’s good for your nervous system.

Tucson: We’re pushing hard on this build so we can all RELAX soon. ❤️‍🔥

Founding members: 1) WE LOVE YOU!! THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING IN THIS WILD IDEA! 2) Look out for an email this week for updates on opening date and an invite to tour the space as we complete the final phases. ❤️‍🔥

This month’s progress:

• Recorded mini sound bath meditations for our SOUND RITUAL with @sunandmoonsound at @saintceciliastudios

• Tested the sound quality on our iPod minis (it’s great)

• Painted the whole studio with natural mineral paint from @originatenaturalbuilding (absolute game changer for the feeling of a space)

• Changed the exposed ceiling from black to our signature burgundy (thank you Alexis 😉)

• Dialed in lighting fixtures, including the largest chainmail pendant you’ll ever see courtesy of @studioages x @etsy

• Tons of unsexy but very productive things like: laid miles of electrical wiring, poured concrete outside for plunge tub filters (so you won’t hear any electric hum inside), SO. MUCH. DRYWALL, plumbed bathrooms and sinks and laundry and showers

• Sourced amazing natural fiber undies and bodysuits for the boutique so we can sauna microplastic-free ❤️‍🔥

• Wasted too much time worrying about how best to document the process on social media, not enough time actually posting (relatable at least?) taken in Downtown Tucson by @el__ritual

ASAP: as slow as possible. As soft, as soulful, as sustainable, as sincere, as steady as possible.

Every wall, every curve, every inch of negative space was considered brought to life with care. We are working with @studioages as our design partner and leaning into a neuroaesthetic philosophy: the idea that a room can regulate a nervous system before a single Ritual begins. Nature, negative space, and material choices that destimulate you from the wild, wild world. Sonoran desert nods throughout, in texture, fragrance, and sound.

Early photos of our space by @nashodelrey , who somehow makes earth and steel beams look like a moment.

Thank you to all of our Founding Members who have joined so far. We are half way sold out of our Founding 50 spots. ❤️‍🔥

Her Ritual: Erin Cox @erin_._cox

This feature is first in a series of interviews with women we admire, giving a window into their everyday rituals. (Lifestyle voyeurs, delight!)

🍊 the orange trees in her front yard are so fragrant, certain times of year, they perfume her whole block in barrio viejo.

👯‍♀️ she’s one of those women who introduces you to other women, and before you know it they’re your friends too.

🌵 she has an encyclopedic knowledge of tucson. a city she’s proud to call home, and one she’s helped shape.

🪡 i know her best as a tailor and fashion designer. her studio is full of fabric and art and treasures collected over the years. everything she touches becomes something else: fabric, food, a home, a handmade birthday card. all of it art in her hands.

🦀 she’s a double cancer, which means she can go deep with you in minutes. one conversation in and you’d swear you’ve known her for years. wisdom and whimsy in the same breath. she laughs easily. she knows her boundaries. she pays attention like it’s a practice.

🌊 this is a woman who lives into rituals not as rigid routines, but as a way of moving through a day to feel her best mentally, physically and creatively. we could all learn something from how erin does it.
