I’m supposed to post more, so I am starting with probably my favorite project to date. @lildickygram and I spent months bringing this one to life before we brought it to Lithuania. In four days we captured a boardroom scene, car chase, flipped a limo, galloped horses in full costume at sunrise, prison riot with explosions in the cold rain, had a man levitate 50 feet, torture sequence with zero plan for clean up and managed a couple commercial placements… it was insane and I loved every moment of it. Too many people to thank, to name a few: the @typefacestudio boys for working non stop on an impossible creative. @freenjoy for always having immaculate taste. @247xradioaktive and everyone on the Lithuania team for overtime, forced turn arounds, and even controlling the weather. @donnalisa00 and @worshipmina for perfecting Dave’s look. @mrjamesdarcy for letting us torture him. The legend that is Ben Loeb for the cinematography and the daily sauna sessions. @gedgata for constantly cracking me up and sprinting with me in the airport to try and make it home for Xmas. @nicogoofs for doing all the movement direction and also missing the same tooth as me. @thehaxancloak for making time and coming out of your hiatus and scoring this project! and of course Dave. You are a legend. Knew it since our first video on a tiny budget. Can’t wait for our next adventure. by @el_mustachios

About a year ago, I decided to scale back on the music video and commercial hustle because the dream was always to make a movie. I sold a concept but then needed to write the full script. After filling many notebooks, countless hours at the library, a month long road trip to scout locations and even banishing myself to Europe, I finished. I know the real work begins in the revisions and the Olympian effort to actually bring the words to life lies ahead. But the process is invaluable and it has even reignited my fire to make music videos and commercials again. by @el_mustachios

“Timeless” a @mercedesbenz project was born in the basement of some unfortunate circumstances but I still had the best memories making it with @thisisdannel. Will never forget sitting in the back of a Russian arm truck, in the freezing cold winter blue hour before sunrise, a bit too much gummy, and insisting they blast opera while we filmed all through out Kyiv. @maria_fab @2332films @48windows @_derekhansen by @el_mustachios

A lot of times you get a music video brief and you aren’t familiar with the artist, so you deep dive on the gram, youtube, google etc… with @munilong I stumbled across a video of her which was an interview about the many iconic songs she has written for other artists and then she was asked to acapella them on the spot. She was effortlessly cool and her voice was magic. Ended up making two videos with her and the wildly talented @amberpark, so of course we have a car sprawling across a Rad Racer nightscape, Medusa-like hair dancing to the beat, baths in sacred geometry, spike Lee dollies on wide lenses, scenes lit by rotating chandeliers etc… Here’s a lil montage to some Mongolian overtones so the vid doesn’t get removed… @happyplaceig @romankoval @nightwindow by @el_mustachios

Somewhere along the last two years Instagram stopped being fun for me and I have been focusing more on writing than directing, but now that I feel like sharing I have a couple year’s of content to catch up on. This is a small docu short film that I shot with my dear friend @royacarreras. When her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer we had planned a beautiful narrative. They both are dancers and choreographers and we wanted to create something special, an elegiac last dance between mother and daughter… but the pandemic came and Sofia passed. Instead I came to San Marin with just a camera and we simply spoke about her life, her death and when words failed, we danced. Throughout the lockdowns @oberhofer would do weekly Instagram lives in which he would play piano, talk and answer questions. They were such soothing moments of joy coupled with his penchant for a knit; he reminded me of a modern day Mister Rogers. He made this wonderful score. @ariannashiningstar was kind enough to color it and @donnalisa00 provided the styling. by @el_mustachios

Teaser for a new video I produced and directed for @zelladay and her wonderful creative cohort consisting of friends and family. A range of influence from Opera, William Klein’s Mr.Freedom, Blue Velvet’s iconic blinds scene, the art direction of Tokyo Drifter, Psycho/007s car chases, Wes Anderson’s composition and even the iconic luggage sequence from the original A Star is Born. While I wait for Instagram to approve my use of the song for the video we made. Instead of just posting stills which is the cool-on-trend thing to do in the visual world, here’s a little montage of the different takes set to her humming the song.... We wanted a simple video that let @zelladay sing and dance like no one was watching. We had a tiny crew but knew it had to be on film. So we didn’t have the luxury of playback, we only had enough film for 8 takes, enough light for 5 good ones but still wanted to try and get it in one long take. Some takes had focus issues, one take rolled out, I kept slamming into walls while operating, others Zella’s dog wasn’t taking my direction, or we didn’t know we would have to rack the iris towards the ending; it was always something.
