The Matcha Tea Ceremony was a highlight for all three of us. We honestly had NO idea what this would actually be like. Yes, you see photos and get a description of the ceremony, but honestly, I didn’t pay attention to any that, I just wanted to feel it. There were so many special details about this experience. Exceptional quality and options for the kimonos, we had the class just the three of us (they’re designed for 4 people). I volunteered to be the tea server for our group after our host and guide, Yuka, taught us the steps and said I did really well (only slipped up 2-3 times), Matcha came out OK given the high pressure LOL, the energy of the room, and getting to do this experience together. There was a lightness in the room and for me, personally, I couldn’t help but just smile, enjoying the sense of peace, tranquility, and fulfillment I felt after wanting this to a great experience for us all.
Major thanks to the wonderful people at @okada_culture and @first.kimono, highly recommend this experience while you’re in Kyōto.
