I had such a blast at Viaka’s MENA Rising Summit yesterday in NYC, hosted at Cooley LLP’s beautiful offices.

It’s hard to line up back-to-back stellar panels but Viaka pulled it off. We got to see Replit co-founder Haya Odeh talk about her inspiring entrepreneurial journey with Viaka co-founder Reem Goussous. We learned how startups turn an early competitive advantage into sustainable, defensible businesses. We heard from founders, funders, and lawyers across the North America and MENA about the challenges of scaling startups across different markets.

And so much more.

It was also fun to run into many friends (including panelists Dima Ayyash, Khaled Kteily, Tamim Bazzi, Ayah Bdeir and more), colleagues, and even LinkedIn connections who recognized me and came up to say hi (NGL, felt like a mini influencer).

Huge thanks to Viaka and Cooley for hosting!

I was proud to be among the sponsors of the 2026 IABA National Summit here in New York City last weekend.

Being surrounded by so many brilliant legal minds in our community somehow felt like a big family reunion. I saw old colleagues, met mutual friends, formed new connections, and left full of inspiration and hope - especially after such a hard year for our community, with many of us having spent the past months worried about our loved ones.

Included among the honorees (both pictured here) were Cyrus Amir-Mokri, General Counsel of JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial and Investment Bank and former Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions at the U.S. Treasury, and Curtis Morrison, founder of Red Eagle Law, whose federal litigation has challenged immigration delays and barriers affecting Iranian nationals and many others.

I’m also pretty sure we had the best food of any legal summit out there 😉

Apparently one trip to Turkey wasn’t enough last week.

Two days after landing from Istanbul, I had the privilege of attending the Turkish American Tech Summit @tatechsummit here in NYC @tc_newyorkbk on Saturday, September 5. It was an exciting day full of thought-proving panels featuring some of the industry’s finest voices across tech and AI.

One panel in particular - “NAVIGATING THE AI ERA: Building with AI Across Products and Industries” - left me with much to chew on. Some of the most insightful takeaways from the panel, in my opinion:

📌 AI learns like a child’s brain. It merges concepts and draws its own conclusions. Our job is to define the parameters of its learning (through data, context, etc.), but after that, AI can infer outcomes on its own.

📌 AI use will massively drive up the cost of energy (everything’s gotta eat, at the end of the day...). The outcome? Human labor may actually end up being cheaper.

📌 Real human skills (judgment, intuition, navigating sensitive emotions) reign supreme in a world where information is so commoditized.

📌 Better models don’t always equal better outcomes. Integration is what matters most.

📌 AI is democratizing tools that have traditionally only been available to mechanical and computer engineers. That means building a company from the ground up is more accessible, and cheaper, than ever.

📌 We are steadily evolving towards Artificial General Intelligence - the capacity is there, but the limitation? You guessed it: energy.

Thanks to Loay Elbasyouni @loay.elbasyouni, Bilge Zeren Aksu @bzerenaksu, and Tunga Bayrak @tungabayrak for their fantastic insights.

What a privilege it was to spend the day surrounded by so many builders in the Turkish tech community and beyond. by @elahe.esq

$First founders x fractionals event in the books! Elahe Hosseini from Hosseini PLLC and Faris Bseiso, founder of Cipher Music, kicked off the first fireside. great room, great conversation around what fractional service providers actually are, how founders find them, and what the engagement looks like. A few highlights: Fractionals are not consultants. Consultants are project-based. Fractionals are embedded and carry context on your company over time. (most people get this wrong.) If you work with a fractional before making a full-time hire, you’ll know what you actually need in the role. Nobody talks about this enough. The way founders find fractionals right now is almost entirely word of mouth. No system, no marketplace. That’s the gap this series is trying to close. And AI came up (because of course it did). Elahe uses enterprise-grade tools for junior-level work and keeps her judgment as the part that can’t be replaced. But she’s specific about which tools and why. A federal judge ruled last month that using a public AI tool to analyze your legal situation voids attorney-client privilege. know which tools you’re using before you paste anything confidential. $NYC! Join me next Tuesday, March 31 at the inaugural Founders + Fractionals event hosted jointly by @daringventures.vc and @chequepay where I’ll be in conversation with one of my earliest clients, @musicbycipher. If you’re a founder wondering how a fractional executive can help your business thrive, or a fractional wondering how to build your own practice, this one’s for you! Registration is required; link in bio. by @elahe.esq$

If you’ve ever asked ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI assistant to help you think through a legal problem, this one’s for you. Link in bio. by @elahe.esq
