Don't take many selfies, but the awesome full wall-sized video art behind me in LIRR Grand Central motivated me for this one. #nyc #grandcentralstation #lirr #digitalart #videoart by @elatedpixel_

THE OCEAN, THE DROP, AND THE SAND

by Guy Daniels III, 7/8/26

One bright day on a public beach, a huge wave comes crashing down. With it, innumerable drops of water are distributed upon the shore in countless arrangements. A small clump of sand, close to a descending spray, watches as the group of drops collide with its cousins (no offense is taken - this relationship is trillions of years old). The clump notices a fresh large drop shimmering in the morning sun.

"Hey! What a fall, huh?"

"Yes, very exciting! Where am I?"

"The beach."

"What?"

"The beach. You're on a beach. You ok? Seem kinda dazed after that crashdown."

"What crashdown?"

"You fell here. Just now. From that h-yuge wave that just hit!"

"Where did you say I was again? And why is it so hot?"

While the two are talking, another large wave, bigger than the fateful one that introduced our two characters, happens.

"Wha - what the heck was that?!"

"What?"

"I have get out of here. That thing could have killed me!"

"Huh? Whudayoumean. You're water. And that, that was a wave. You ok?"

"I - I just have to get away from here. I know another one of those things is coming again. You called it something...doesn't matter. It's not safe here."

"But, you can't move."

"I have to."

"You can't. You only move as part of a wave. Or when you're in the water. You're from the water, remember?"

"No."

"You are water I mean."

"I have to move from here..."

But the drop couldn't move.

And so the fearful water drop, now completely unaware of it's identity and source, dried up on the hot morning sand of the beach, the place which made the drop so dreadfully afraid, once hurled down and separated from its larger family. As mighty water, it knew few bounds and fewer worries (human pollution was it, really). But as a drop, separate and isolated, it lost all sense of its former glory, beauty, strength, and purpose, along with remembrance of the countless creatures it knew as family and friends, who depended upon it for life, food, and shelter.

Moral of the story: Don't be like that drop. Connect with your higher self by raising your consciousness and reclaim your Divinity. by @elatedpixel_
