PIPE PALS EP - OUT NOW 4 tracks leaning towards slow dance soundscapes and dubby sequences. A taste of new tunes on the way via bandcamp and Soundcloud ahead of dsp’s! To be enjoyed somewhere between the lounge room and dance floor. 



#1 Pipe Pals
 
Pipe Pals came to existence quite quickly over a few days of messing with sounds and trying to replicate certain production elements reminiscent of late 90’s/ 2000’s breakbeat/downtempo. I have been slowly collecting records over the years and I kept coming back to a few deep electronica early cuts, which I often don’t get to play in my live vinyl sets. I got really inspired one night after playing it and I went home and made the bones of this song after my set. I started with the drums first and remade a drum break, and then kept layering sounds and synths melodies which end up sort of intertwining between each other. 

#2 Soap Opera 
 A slow dance dub that came together over a few revisits. A few last minute samples were added just before export which gave it a plot twist. It was fun messing with the delay on this one and maximising repetitive simplicity with suspense. 

#3 Hypno Ray 

Originally a b side jam created with Caleb Sharie @calebsharie . We have a bunch of dancefloor jamms like this on the hard drive from days of jamming with his korg prologue over the years. Every jam we make ends up being some sort of prog psych synth jamm with long live takes. I hear this played live with a band at a peak moment in the set - hopefully one day soon. 

#4 Feijoa

A song we made jamming with Justin Yip @juaetin . 
I think we made this the 1st or 2nd time we ever hung out, when Justin first got his Korg Prologue. After moving back to Hong Kong we haven’t been able to work on the track together. So I’ve been sending him new mixes occasionally over the years as I revisit it. 
During our initial session we were chatting a lot about suspense in sounds, and the prologue had this cool kinda sustain/release so we were honing the synthesis to hold and release the tension of each take. Hope you dig! by @eldelpha
