To start the weekend, here’s an offering of the new video for my single ‘DEER SKIN’! The full film (in bio) is a photographic movement piece exploring themes of abuse, coercion, subjugation, and racial violence. Told as a dance re-enacting a hunt, with choreography by @alexkamienski. Shot by @lucianariso, in association with @cookeoptics. Directed by @philipjamesmcgoldrick with a stunning performance by @therealmodestyblaise and @aitorvisca @movementbykamienski. Thank you so much to the team for helping bring this concept to life- navigating the challenging aspects of the multilayered themes with trust, creativity and openness. REHEARSAL FOOTAGE vs THE REAL THING. Seeing an idea that starts in you head come to life on 35mm film is quite addictive :) But shoots rarely go to plan- my 3D printed spine fell into pieces, the original halo strip light broke, and we only had two hours to capture it all… Kudos to the amazing team for pulling it off against the odds! Inc our DP @milesridgway (who came up with an emergency halo solution) & costume designer/ stylist Matahari Devi @uhurumatahari for sewing the spine pieces into my costume on the fly 👏 🫶This ended up as a visual promo for my last EP Holy Stranger.
