I happen to think the Elemental Moon Yoga School 200HR Teacher Training is one of the best around, but don’t take my word for it. Here’s what some of our past students are saying. We begin again in June! Check our website for details on slide scale pricing, our expert team of teachers, and upcoming dates. #ElementalMoonYogaSchool #GraceMillsapYoga #200HourYTT #YogaAlliance #YogaTeacherTraining #YTT #YogaSutras #CharlotteNC by @elementalmoonyogaschool
Hello, friends! 👋 It’s been a long time since I introduced myself, so I want to say heyyyy I’m Grace (she/they), and I’m currently located in Charlotte, NC (Catawba and Sugaree land). I'm the heart, fire, and organizing force behind Elemental Moon Yoga School. It’s important to me to acknowledge my privileges, and socially locate myself. I am a white, nondisabled, cis-female, born in the U.S. to a middle-class blended-family. These privileges granted me access to earning two college degrees: psychology + biology, opportunities to travel, access to many trainings and jobs that provided me resources not always available to folks who are marginalized due to the institutions and systems put in place by dominant culture. I am still learning, unlearning, and evolving into a more kind and compassionate human. The Yoga I share is informed by the Himalayan and Sri Vidya traditions. The Himalayan tradition is an unbroken chain that extends for thousands of years, a living tradition that still exists today, undisturbed by the passage of time. The Sri Vidya is a practice of Tantra that provides the framework for experiencing worldly pleasures and spiritual freedom. I believe that the practice of Yoga involves showing up in the world, way beyond the poses on the mat. Sure, we could all go live in caves, and devote our lives to meditation OR we can choose to live in this beautiful, messy, inspiring, and tragic world. These practices of Yoga aren’t meant to give permission to bypass, but rather to honor the Truths of our times and act skillfully. I’m also a licensed massage therapist with certifications in Thai massage, and Craniosacral Therapy. My classes, whether restorative or flow, are infused with my passions, and quest for magic and joy. When not teaching, you can find me with my nose in a book or researching random animal facts or plotting my next taco meal or simply sitting and watching the wind blow through the trees. There’s so many opportunities for us to practice (and travel!) together. You can find all of my upcoming retreats and workshops at the link in my bio! 📸: @caseyvaughnphotography by @elementalmoonyogaschool
Why choose Elemental Moon YTT? Glad you asked! 🌝 Each yoga teaching training program is special, and has its own unique pulse. With so many YTTs to choose from, it may feel overwhelming to sort through all the options. It’s important to first figure out what it is that YOU are wanting from the training. A few questions to ask yourself first: ✨ Do you want to lead group classes? ✨ Or work with people 1:1? ✨ Or do you just really love all things Yoga and want to learn more? ✨ Do you have other certifications? ✨ What's your background in anatomy and movement? But also, what type of yoga do you want to study? ⭐️Alignment? ⭐️Power flow? ⭐️Deep stretch? ⭐️Meditation or breathwork? I recommend that you consider your 200 hour a survey course. You aren’t going to become an expert at yoga afterwards, in fact you may actually come away with more questions than when you started. (Just like reading this post 😉) The BIG topic of Yoga is a vast sky with many solar systems, constellations, and shooting stars to be studied in depth. 🪐💫💥 One could spend a lifetime studying any one aspect. I’m not saying this to discourage you, rather to incite a curiosity to learn more, and to ask yourself these questions! And maybeeee you like the perspective(s) of Elemental Moon Yoga School... check the link in our bio for more details on pricing, dates, special guest teachers, topics, and to fill out the application. #yogateachertraining #yogateacher #vinyasaflow #yogateachers #virtualyoga #onlineyogaclasses #asana #yogateacherlife #yogateacherslife #yogastudent #slidingscaleyoga #200hourytt #200hourryt #yogaalliance #ytt #200hourytt #elementalmoonyoga #yogamentor #yogateachermentor #yogateachermentorship #community #kula by @elementalmoonyogaschool
Soooo what’s up with the name Elemental Moon for your Yoga School? 🌙 Briefly... Because everything around us is made up of the 5-elements. 🌏 💧 🔥 💨 🪐 Earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space) not only make up the outside, but also our inside worlds. These elements carry with them different qualities, and fuse together I liken them to the ethereal DNA of the world, as variability is due to the inconsistency of distribution of the 5-elements. AND...I was born under a full-moon, which is most likely when my fascination started. #thatsmystory The two came together as I sat under my favorite tree in my neighborhood park while journaling. 🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙 Elemental Moon Yoga School began with a desire to create something counter to the current culture of yoga. A school that embraces traditions while also uplifting accessibility, inclusion, and equality. And from this desire sparked a school like no other! Just like the moon, we are always oscillating between full and empty; ebb and flow. The energy of the moon is of a restorative nature that nourishes our systems. 🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙🌙 I knew I was moving forward to create a school of my own, and I wanted the title to represent me, and how I teach. One that encompassed my own trainings in both Ayurveda, and Yoga. And inspiration struck 💥 Fun fact: my first permanent class that was “mine” after my training was called “Moon”. 😍🌙 #throwback And there you have it...some of the stories behind the name. Here at Elemental Yoga School we do things a bit differently. We understand that each person is unique in their lived experiences, points of privilege, and access to wealth and resources. We offer Tiered Pricing which covers many circumstances AND Name-Your-Own-Scholarships (with BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA requests to the front) to cover the rest. From Grace: "It is my heart’s most sincere desire to make this training as accessible as possible. AND I also honor my guest teachers, and the energy (time, money, emotional) put into their area of expertise, combined with what it takes to present at the level of a teacher training. A sliding scale model operates from a place of trust, community, equity, and honesty. I trust you to choose the best price that is appropriate for you. The current standard price for a 200-hour Yoga teacher training is between $2800-$3500 which automatically creates boundaries, and exclusion, for some. Tiered Pricing Models creates opportunities for those who may not otherwise be able to join, while retaining the value of the training and teachers; thus challenging the industry’s standard and capitalistic norms. This model invites us to take inventory of our personal resources, and examine our personal intersectionality and levels of privilege." WHY? Representation matters. And while these policies don't counteract all the hate-filled legislation being pushed across the country it does create opportunities to change the landscape of who teaches Yoga. #yogateachertraining #yogateacher #vinyasaflow #yogateachers #virtualyoga #onlineyogaclasses #asana #yogateacherlife #yogateacherslife #yogastudent #slidingscaleyoga #200hourytt #200hourryt #yogaalliance #ytt #200hourytt #elementalmoonyoga by @elementalmoonyogaschool
Embark on a journey of self-discovery, awareness, and love in June 2025. ✨ Join Grace Millsap and special guest teachers to explore the expansive and rich practices of Yoga through the lens of modern neuroscience, Ayurveda, philosophy, and social justice. All are welcome, whether a newly in-love-with-yoga student, if you have been practicing for years, or are already a yoga teacher. No matter if you have a desire to teach, or are only here to geek out and absorb the information on a personal level, there is something for you in this training. Our goal is to spark passion for the vastness and resplendence of knowledge in the study of Yoga. You can expect a balance of practice, theory, and techniques to give you the skills to create, or take, any yoga class to meet you where you are and give you exactly what you need. At completion of the training and assignments, you will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200-hour RYT). The teaching style presented in the Elemental Moon Yoga School teacher training is a weaving of three systems of study: Yoga (as described by Patanjali and other texts), Ayurveda (our elemental nature), and Tantra (tools that allow us to live our lives more skillfully). This training will give you the tools to discern how to best meet your students where they are. 🔗 Link in bio to join our next cohort! Are you ready? Here at Elemental Moon Yoga School - we do things a bit differently than many Yoga Schools. We don't lean into love and light as core principles. Instead, we use our Yogic practices as tools for social justice. Yoga is: Human Rights Recovery Racial Justice Politics Environmental Justice Disability Justice Animal Rights Food Justice Gender Justice Solidarity We understand that each person is unique in their lived experiences, points of privilege, and access to wealth and resources. The Elemental Moon Yoga School 200hr YTT is out of this world! 🚀🪐✨ Here’s what past students are saying: “This was absolutely life-changing for me! Not only is Grace an incredible person but is so supportive and self-aware regarding the history of yoga. I gained valuable teaching skills and life-long connections, but even more than that, I really had a chance to connect with my spiritualism and find out what that means for me.” “This Yoga Teacher Training completely exceeded my expectations, and it is not an exaggeration to say it changed my life. I am beyond impressed with the amount of time, thought, and heart that went into carefully planning each element of the program. I learned so much for use both on and off the mat, and am excited and inspired to keep on learning...plus I got to spend the summer with some of the coolest, kindest people I know. I wish I had done this years ago. “ Our next adventure begins June 14th! Join us at the link in bio! Photo + edit: @caseyvaughnphotography by @elementalmoonyogaschool
All levels yoga - myth or possible? I asked this same question to my YTT class a few years ago, and one of the student’s answers made me pause… She said “Yes, all-levels are possible because you taught us _______ so I would feel comfortable letting someone lay down and just imagining the asanas while breathing.” _______ = lots of kind words about her experience in my 200-hour program that made my heart swell and mind expand And while this isn’t a shameless plug for my YTT - we begin again in June ;) It DOES speak to the power of the other limbs of Yoga: Yamas Niyamas Asana Pranayama Pratyahara Dharana Dhyana Samadhi Yamas and Niyamas are more ethical considerations and traditionally would have been introduced BEFORE assuming any poses. Asana is our physical practice and it often translated to “pose” but more accurately “seat”. Pranayama is our breath, which allows us to influence our energetic state. Pratyahara is the practice of sense withdrawal. Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi are all related and I like to think about them like stairsteps. Dharana is typically described as 1-pointed focus on an object, Dhyana as absorption with said object, and Samadhi as total bliss. When we center and elevate the asanas, it may send the impression that our classes aren’t really geared towards ALL. I am grateful for having more questions than answers and am always willing to (un)learn. What could it look like to zoom out and recognize the many layers and facets of human existence? Who else could benefit from these practices if we made subtle changes to our language and intentions? How can I continue to evolve my own understanding of what it really means to be a practitioner and teacher of Yoga? How can we continue to grow while remaining open? #deepthoughts #questiontheanswers #yogaisforeverybody #morethanasana #8limbsofyoga #alllevelsvinyasa #vinyasayoga #yogateachertrainer #200hrytt #200hryogateachertraining #yogaalliance #elementalmoonyogaschool #gracemillsapyoga #alwayslearning #yogapractice #yogaposes #yogasana by @elementalmoonyogaschool
All levels yoga - myth or possible? Let me go ahead and admit my strong bias on this topic 🙂 I strongly disagree with the “all-levels” distinction for yoga asana classes. First, we would NEVER consider an all-levels math class so why would we pretend that we can conduct a physical-based practice for ALL?! What happens when folks don’t see themselves represented in the ALL? What about when ALL means that we are hammering out 6 rounds of sun salutations within the first 7 minutes of class? What about folks in wheelchairs who can’t access your 2nd floor studio space? Still saying all-levels without elevator or ramp access? And don’t get me started on Warrior 1 in Sun Salutation B as a warm up… There’s nothing wrong with not being for everyone. In fact, I highly recommend you NOT be for everyone - sounds exhausting. We can get clear on who our classes are for, and what expectations we hold for folks walking in the room (key word: probably walking, unless you or the studio has removed some barriers to create space for folks with other methods of arrival). So what do you think? All levels vinyasa - Myth or possible? #yogateacher #elementalmoonyoga #200hourytt #alllevelsvinyasa #vinyasa #yogaclass #asana #yogasana #yogaflow #yogateachertrainer #gracemillsapmagic by @elementalmoonyogaschool
