I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in September 2023. 🧡

For a moment, I didn’t know if I’d ever run ultras again. But here I am, still chasing mountains, still pushing limits, still showing up for the trails that saved me. 🏃🏽‍♀️

I’m Daisy. Ultrarunner. Trail Running Mentor. Mindset Coach. Community Leader. Podcast Host. And someone who believes in working hard for experiences over things. 😊

I’ve been trail running for over 10 years and very big on adventure runs.
Here are some things I’m proud of:
➡️ First 100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 44 hours
➡️ The 3 Saints (San Jacinto, San Gorgonio, & Mt. Baldy) in 24 hours
➡️ Rim to Rim to Rim Solo
➡️ 68 Miles The Backbone Trail (Two Different Times)
➡️ Calendar Club (running every day the number of miles of the day of the month)

I became a mom at 18. My son just turned 18 himself. Being his mom has been my greatest gift and my first lesson in doing hard things.

I’m Co-Founder of @chingonasontherun, a women’s trail running community, and part of the @weexploreearth team (help lead hikes, trail runs, & outdoor experiences). ⛰️

Host of the @runlikeachingona podcast.🎙️

Beyond trail running, I’m really into wellness, astrology, puzzles, travel, learning, movies (HUGE @Pixar fan), and music. I REALLY love to dance, so you can catch me at music festivals here and there. It’s all part of how I stay grounded and heal my inner child (I share this part of my life here -> @daisyzenitram). 🥰

Born and raised in Los Angeles. Now I live in the foothills of the Angeles National Forest in Glendora, California. 🏡

This year? My goal is to finish my first 100 miler race and get a Hardrock qualifier. Currently training for the High Sierra Trail (72 miles in one day), Mogollon Monster 100, and Cocodona 250.

My bigger dream? Run the whole Pacific Crest Trail and ultras around the world. Help and inspire trail runners along the way. 🙏🏾

If you’re into trail running, pushing your limits, or just need a little inspiration let’s be friends! 🙌🏽

Let’s go chase our dreams together! 💪🏽

They say you can’t outrun your problems, but on the trails, I learned how to run through them.✨

Since 2015, trail running has been my therapy, my community, and my purpose. It taught me that with enough grit, anything is possible. 💪🏽

Side Note: While trail running has been and still is a huge part of my healing journey, it is just one tool in my toolbox. I also work with a therapist, and I highly encourage anyone struggling with their mental health to reach out to a professional too. 💚

Every time we stay committed to following through with the things we said we’d do, long after the initial excitement is gone, we get mentally stronger. 💪🏽

When we’re on the trail for hours, our brain does its job to protect us. It will come up with every logical reason why we should quit, stop, or just not show up. 🥴

But we can build that mental muscle by practicing doing things that suck. 😁

The more we embrace the discomfort, the sooner we learn that no emotion lasts forever. Our brain eventually gives up trying to convince us to stop.

Remember to keep pushing, things eventually get better. ❤️ by @elementsofdaisy

NEW EPISODE DROP!🎙🏃‍♀️⛰️💥⁣
⁣⁣
📣 Episode 121 of the @just.trek podcast feat. Daisy Martinez @elementsofdaisy is now live and streaming on Spotify, Apple, Youtube and wherever you listen to podcasts. 🔗 Full episode links in bio. ⁣
⁣
On this episode, our host @justroc is joined by SoCal based ultra trail runner, outdoor adventurer, and trail running mentor Daisy Martinez, returning to the Just Trek Podcast nearly six years after her first appearance on the show.⁣
⁣
We catch up on Daisy’s journey over the past several years, the challenges that forced her to rebuild her strength, endurance, and confidence, and what ultimately led her to one of her biggest adventures yet: solo trail running the 72-mile High Sierra Trail from Whitney Portal to Crescent Meadow. 🏔️🏃🏽‍♀️⁣
⁣
Daisy takes us inside this wild journey, from summiting Mount Whitney to pushing deep across the High Sierra for approximately 42 hours with no sleep. We dive into the highs and lows, sleep deprivation + hallucinations, nutrition + gear, wildlife encounters, unexpected trail angels, and the moments that tested her physically and mentally along the way.⁣
⁣
Beyond the 72 miles, Daisy shares what this experience taught her about resilience, trusting herself, and continuing to chase those “big crazy dreams” while we still have the opportunity to do them. 💫⁣

Three years ago (September 2023) I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Multiple Sclerosis. It’s been a journey to get to where I am today. I had to re-learn how to be an athlete and care for my body.

In April 2025, I committed to putting myself first and caring for my body. My life has changed so much since choosing myself.

I share my story in hopes for others not to wait until life forces them to choose themselves. I also share my story to give hope to those who are in a similar situation as me.

This is just a reminder that our body is our temple, we should take care of it. 🧡 by @elementsofdaisy

Running down Devil’s Backbone Trail from the top of Mt. Baldy is a lot of fun! 🏃🏽🏃🏽‍♀️⛰️

Quick trail etiquette reminder:
No matter how fast you’re flying down, hikers/runners going uphill always have the right of way.

What I do… As soon as I see someone coming up, I step aside. Sometimes they’ll wave me past so they can catch their breath and other times they’re thankful for letting them continue their momentum.

Easiest way to remember trail yield etiquette (slowest one has the right of way):
We all yield to horses 🐴
Bikers yield to all 🚲

This is a trail guide to climb Mt. Baldy via Register Ridge from someone who has climbed Mt.Baldy 85 times.

If you’ve never climbed Mt. Baldy before I don’t recommend this route to be the first way to climb it. Personal opinion I think first-time climbing Mt. Baldy should be up Ski-Hut and down Devils Backbone.

Register Ridge trail is a great route to train for Iron Mountain, Cactus to Clouds or Mt. Baldy via Bear Canyon.

The trail is very steep. From trailhead to devils backbone junction it’s 2.53 miles with 3,100 ft of elevation gain. From trailhead to summit it’s 3.61 miles with 3,976 ft of elevation gain.

This is the shortest route to summit however, if you’re not used to climbing steep trails, you risk getting leg cramps.

Also, I DO NOT recommend descending this way. You will fall and there’s a high risk of hurting yourself. Sometimes the shortest way is not the fastest way.

🅿️: Regarding parking at Manker Trailhead you do need an adventure parking pass ($5 for day pass / $30 for year pass) which you can buy at an outdoors sport store like @rei and @big5. I recommend calling beforehand because they do sell out. Local gas stations / 711 near the foothills of the Angeles National Forest also sell them.

Happy Trails! 🥰 taken in Mount Baldy Summit by @elementsofdaisy

Are we not going to call out race organizers for not practicing leaving no trace? These photos were taken today on 9/14. The @baldyruntothetop event happened on 9/7. This is not the first time this event has created trash at the summit of Baldy. Last time the summit and Devil’s Backbone was trashed with so many orange peels. Also saw handful of other water bottles hidden under rocks. taken in Mount Baldy Summit by @elementsofdaisy
