Taking Access to New Heights ✨🚀

Who said we only celebrate Deaf Awareness Month in September?! 👀🤟🏾
Not over here! We celebrate Deaf culture, Deaf history, Deaf communities, and the importance of accessibility ALL YEAR ROUND! 🤎✨
And because we couldn’t fit all this beautiful melanin into one video, we had to come back with PART TWO! 🫶🏾
Black and Brown interpreters are out here doing the work, breaking barriers, and making an impact every single day. Representation matters, cultural competency matters, and access matters!

A huge thank you to my village for showing up AGAIN and helping me bring this video to life! 💚
And just in case you forgot what we said the first time...

When they tell you they can’t find a Black or Brown interpreter, tell them they didn’t look hard enough! 👏🏾
At Elevated Access Co., we’re committed to creating accessible spaces, amplifying Black and Brown interpreters, and ensuring our communities have access to qualified professionals who understand the importance of cultural representation.
Because accessibility isn’t seasonal. It’s a year-round commitment! 🧡

Today, Elevated Access Co. had the incredible opportunity to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services at the Cities of Inclusion Conference in Philadelphia! 🧡♿️
Beyond interpreting, it was an amazing opportunity to learn from leaders in disability advocacy, healthcare, social work, research, and the self-advocacy community, all working toward a more inclusive and accessible world.
It was especially inspiring to learn more about the work @thearcphilly continues to do to advocate for disability rights, inclusion, and accessibility, especially as we navigate ongoing federal funding cuts that threaten essential services and resources for people with disabilities.
Throughout the exhibit hall, there were signs highlighting major milestones in disability rights and accessibility history. I found myself stopping to read them and reflecting on how far we’ve come, the advocates who paved the way, and how much work there is still left to do.

As the founder of Elevated Access Co., experiences like this remind me that accessibility is about so much more than providing a service. It’s about education, advocacy, collaboration, and intentionally creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to participate fully.
I’m grateful for the knowledge, conversations, and connections made today. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and be in more spaces like this!
At Elevated Access Co., we’re committed to making events, conferences, and community spaces more accessible through ASL interpreting services, accessibility consulting, and inclusive event planning.
Taking access to new heights, one space at a time! 🧡✨

Happy Deaf Awareness Month! 🤟🏾🖤🤎

This month is about celebrating Deaf people, Deaf culture, American Sign Language, and continuing the work toward true accessibility and equitable language access.

Today, we’re also celebrating the Black and Brown ASL interpreters who are an essential part of the communities we serve. Representation matters. Cultural competency matters. And having interpreters who understand the cultures and lived experiences of the people in the room matters.

Thank you to my village for showing up and helping me create this video. 🫶🏾

And when they tell you they “can’t find” a Black or Brown interpreter…

Tell them they didn’t look hard enough. 👏🏾

We’re here. We’re qualified. We’re experienced. And we’re doing the work.

At Elevated Access Co., we provide ASL interpreting and accessibility services for festivals, conferences, organizations, and community events.

Two nights in Philly with @brunomars! 🎶🤟🏾✨
I had the pleasure of interpreting for Bruno Mars’ Romantic Tour in Philadelphia, and what an experience! This was truly one of the best concerts I’ve attended in a while from the production and choreography to the music and energy in the room.

A few of my favorites from the night: 🎤🤟🏾
✨Risk It All
✨Why You Wanna Fight?
✨Cha Cha Cha

Opportunities like this are a reminder of why accessibility in live entertainment matters. Deaf and Hard of Hearing fans deserve access to concerts, festivals, and live events at every level.

That same passion drives the work we do at Elevated Access Co., providing ASL interpreting, event accessibility, accessibility coordination, and consulting for concerts, festivals, conferences, and community events.

@elevatedaccessco had the opportunity to share our journey with @canvasrebel — and the story behind how Elevated Access Co. came to be. ✨

What started as an idea written on sticky notes around my computer desk has grown into something bigger than I could have imagined: a business centered on accessibility, inclusion, ASL interpreting, and creating more accessible events and experiences.

This conversation was raw, transparent, and truly from the heart. I shared the journey, the lessons, and the vision behind taking access to new heights. 🧡💚

As President of @naobidc , we are committed to advancing visibility, empowerment, and community connection for Black Deaf individuals and Black interpreters throughout the Washington, DC area. Through our work, we create opportunities that celebrate Black Deaf culture, identity, leadership, and excellence while fostering spaces where Black interpreters and the Black Deaf community can connect, grow, and thrive.

Rooted in Rhythm: Black Deaf Movement, Poetry & Signed Song reflects this mission by centering the richness and diversity of Black Deaf expression. This immersive, interactive workshop invites advanced ASL signers, fluent BASL/ASL users, Black interpreters, and experienced Deaf performers to explore movement, poetry, rhythm, storytelling, and signed song through the lens of Black Deaf culture and artistic traditions.

Participants will strengthen their performance skills, engage in collaborative creative exploration, and deepen their understanding of how visual language and embodied expression can preserve culture while creating powerful, authentic artistic voices. Together, we honor the traditions that have shaped Black Deaf expression while creating space for innovation, artistic excellence, cultural preservation, and the continued evolution of Black Deaf performance.

The strongest accessibility plans begin long before event day.
Our process keeps access connected to the full experience:
1. Discover the audience, goals, and potential barriers
2. Plan the right accommodations, communication, and logistics
3. Implement with prepared professionals and clear coordination
4. Elevate the experience through follow-through and reflection
Early planning leads to smoother events, stronger participation, and fewer last-minute surprises.
Save this post for your next event planning meeting.

🌴✨ Caribbean culture, community, and celebration 🎉

Yesterday, @elevatedaccessco had the honor of attending Howard County’s Caribbean American Heritage Month Festival at the Chrysalis at Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods! 🇯🇲🇹🇹🇭🇹🇧🇧🇵🇷

It was such a fun-filled day celebrating Caribbean culture with live music, dancing, incredible performances, local vendors, family-friendly activities, and delicious Caribbean food. The energy and community were everything! 💃🏾🥁🌴

And here’s a little Maryland history: Did you know Maryland recognizes August as Caribbean American Heritage Month? If you didn’t know, now you know! 👏🏾

This annual Howard County celebration brings the community together to recognize the vibrant cultures, traditions, music, food, and contributions of Caribbean Americans throughout Maryland. If you missed it this year, make sure you put the Howard County Caribbean American Heritage Month Festival on your list for next August!

A special thank you to @khtwinc for thinking of Elevated Access Co. and including us in this wonderful celebration.🧡
