💙It’s been 5 years since Vivek’s diagnosis and colon cancer becoming a part of our lives. And since then we’ve tried to turn that chapter into something positive. Each year, we walk to raise awareness and gently remind people to stay on top of their screenings, because it truly matters.

💙The last five years have been quite a journey… multiple surgeries, six months of chemo, and just three months ago( november 2025) , a Stroke( subarachnoid hemorrhage ) , a brain surgery followed by 18 days in ICU which brought another round of challenges. We are so grateful he’s doing well. We have even given him a new nickname, “brain bleed boy,” said with love and a lot of relief. 🙂
Through it all, Vivek Kalra’s strength and rockstar mindset continue to carry us forward and remind us to live in the now and be grateful for all that we are blessed with. CHARDI KALA & FAITH OVER FEAR ALWAYS..

💙This year we’re walking with Colon Cancer Coalition on March 7th in Gilbert, and we would love for you to join us. Whether you walk beside us, share the message, or choose to donate, it all helps bring attention to something that often gets put off or overlooked. As of two weeks ago it’s the number one cause of cancer deaths in the US.

COLON CANCER WALK LINK IN BIO 💙🙏

As most of you know Vivek was diagnosed with stage 3c Colon Cancer Dec 2020 and had colon resection surgery and 6 months of chemo. He stayed active through chemo and continues to do so with squash/hiking/pickleball/Peloton. He feels great and thankfully most of the chemo symptoms are gone and had the port removal surgery in July 2022 (woohoo).
Cancer is behind us but raising awareness isn’t. As a family and as a community, we would love your support in raising funds and encouraging people to pledge to screen. Do you know that Colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading reason for cancer deaths in the US (behind lung cancer) and is predicted to be #1 in 8 years for ages 20-49?
 We have chosen to fundraise for this incredible event because even though it’s awkward to talk about your colon, cancer doesn’t stop and doesn’t discriminate.
Please donate today, pass the word on to others and join us in supporting those impacted by colorectal cancer. Your action today inspires hope for tomorrow. Somewhere between the silence and the sharing, something shifted quietly and gently.

No expectations, no roles…just being and traveling within.

We walked in as strangers and left a little more connected to ourselves and each other.

It didn’t feel like a retreat - it felt real. A space of growth and connections.💙

Grateful for this soulful, grounding and weaving weekend and the beautiful space held by Luna, Meghana, Pooja & Meera 🙏

Congrats to the team of @viva_ananda for this first of a kind retreat and here’s to many more! It’s truly an experience I would highly recommend. Sometimes you find calm you didn’t even know you needed.

~~When you wake up every morning, say something you are grateful for. Set the tone for the day for yourself. May each sunset give you hope and remind you what a blessing it is to be alive. Start and end every single day with gratitude. Gratitude is so so POWERFUL.
Every night I end the day reminding myself of three things that I was grateful for that day.. that sets the tone for my next day ( no matter how small or how stressful that day was) ~~ RGK

Just because something was delivered to you… doesn’t mean you have to accept it and sign for it.

Notice one moment today where you mentally say, “Delivery Declined- Return To Sender .”

My aunt had told me this in not so many words years ago and it stayed with me..
And I tried to repurpose it .

💙On Saturday( March 7th) we walked together for colon cancer awareness, and because of all of you, we raised $7,949. Truly amazing. Thank you to @coloncancercoalition @gyrig_arizona @_ggrijalva_jafri @rizjaf and team for their efforts to put this walk together.

💙Thank you to everyone who showed (phoenix and worldwide) , donated, shared the message, and supported this cause that means so much to our family. The love, encouragement, blessings, and support we feel is something we never take for granted and truly is the wind beneath our wings.

💙At the end of the walk, Vivek shared two simple words with our friends GRATITUDE & REFILLABLE .

☕️He said life isn’t about whether the cup is half empty or half full. The REAL GIFT is realizing the CUP IS REFILLABLE.

💙And because of all of you, ours continues to be refilled with kindness, support, faith and hope.

💙In December 2020, Vivek was diagnosed with Stage 3C colon cancer at age 48. His only symptom was a couple weeks of on-and-off abdominal pain. Life was completely normal… until it wasn’t.

💙That experience is exactly why we’ve chosen to be vocal about this. I know sharing so openly isn’t always comfortable for everyone- silence doesn’t save lives. Conversations do. 🙏

💙If speaking up helps even one person notice a symptom sooner, ask a question, or schedule the colonoscopy they’ve been putting off, then it’s worth it. If you’re 45 or older, please talk to your doctor about screening. And if something feels off in your body, don’t ignore it.

💙On World Cancer Day, holding deep respect for those who live with cancer, those who fought it, those who love them, and those who have lost someone. We know it’s so much more than JUST A DAY, it’s a journey that leaves fingerprints all over our and our loved one lives.

💙Walking beside Vivek through stage 3C colorectal cancer has shown me a kind of strength that doesn’t ask for attention.
Vivek used to answer every “How are you feeling?” with, “like a champ.”And just as often, “this doesn’t define me.”His bravery/ his strength shines through and through every day.
He is definitely our champ and rockstar.

🙏Cancer may be behind us, but speaking up, showing up, and creating awareness still matters.
Cancer is never carried by one person alone, it lives in the whole family. If you know someone who is fighting cancer or a caregiver that needs to talk to someone that gets it… please send them my info. With love and remembrance for all that we have lost to this disease. 🙏💙
