STORIES WE TELL: “YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE”“Walking in a field of fog Cliff on horizon, won’t be long Silhouettes of Oaks behind Teachings from another time” “You” started with Josh and Britt going for a Saturday afternoon adventure at Trojan Point on Mt. Tam.Trojan Point sits high above the the Bay Area, with panoramic views that stretch from the San Francisco skyline all the way out to the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of those places that makes you feel small in the best possible way.It was sunny when they got there. Out on the ocean, they could see a wall of fog building, like a cliff forming on the horizon. They knew it wouldn’t be long before the day’s weather was about to change.And it did.One minute clear skies. The next, completely enveloped in thick fog.They moved back toward a patch of old oak trees that felt ancient and wise. It was a humbling experience, a reminder that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves.Josh wrote the song as a call to stop being the center of your own universe. To think about each other. To remember we’re all connected.We originally produced the track as a rock/electronic hybrid, closer in spirit to our unplugged records like Beautiful Things, letting emotion lead before the dancefloor ever entered the picture.When @janburtonuk came to record vocals, we took him to Trojan Point so he could experience the atmosphere that inspired the song. You can hear that sense of scale in his performance.Then @myonmuzik and @elevvenmusic pushed it into another world entirely.Their remix, debuted by Above & Beyond at ABGT300 transformed it into a dancefloor moment, driven by what might still be one of the most perfectly distorted basslines we’ve ever heard.From foggy cliffs on Mt. Tam to festival crowds singing every word back to us.Some songs start as personal reflections and somehow become shared experiences.“You” was one of those. by @elevvenmusic
