To my darling baby niece,
I keep telling you to please stop growing up and you answer each time with the same earnest voice and look on your face: “I have to”, and it makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Your smile, laugh, and hugs are the highlights of my days. You get smarter every day and are always surprising me. You teach me to be present, you teach me to be patient, you teach me to embrace every moment and find fulfillment in the small things. As much as I’d love to keep you where you are forever, I also can’t wait to see what you become. Thank you for being a light in my life.
