Making memories we will both never forget <3

From my dad in 96’ now to my daughter in 26’ some things are worth pushing back bedtime for.

Couldn’t go to the game on her birthday on the 27th to see her favorite player Aaron Judge do to rain but we sure did stay up tonight to see Cam, Ben and the guys handle business in game 1.

Six years of Skylar ❤️

Six years of getting to be your mom. Six years of watching you grow, learning who you are, and feeling unbelievably lucky that we get to call you ours.

You are sweet, sensitive, funny, curious, strong-willed, and full of so much love. You feel things deeply, love your people fiercely, and have a way of bringing so much joy into the little everyday moments. Watching you become you has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives.

I wish I could freeze time sometimes. I wish I could keep this little girl exactly as she is. The laugh, the hugs, the silly stories, the way you still reach for our hand, and all the little things that make this season of your life so special. But more than anything, I’m excited to watch you keep becoming the incredible person you’re meant to be.

No matter how big you get, you will always be our baby girl.

We’re still settling into the house and last night I pulled out a box I haven’t seen since we moved out of Queens in 2020. In it were so many of my walk shirts, including my very first one from 2007.

I remember it so vividly. It was my senior year of HS and I had already been my grandmas primary care giver for a few years. Her Alzheimer’s got so bad though, that I started to look for outside help to educate me on what to do. I found The Alzheimer’s Association and their upcoming memory walk. I didn’t know anyone or anything about it, but knew I had to be apart of it. It was coming to that weekend so I registered online to be a volunteer.

I had to be at Riverside Park at 6am to help set up for the walk. That meant leaving Brooklyn at 5am. No biggie. Got to the park, found the volunteer check in, and was given this shirt and told to work the breakfast tent for the Champions club (a club I’d later get to join for raising over $500). The sun came out and walkers started to check in. People would come to the tent for coffee or fruit and go on their way to see the opening ceremony.

After the ceremony ended and the walk began, someone from the organization came over to our tent and told us we were done and could participate in the walk ourselves if we wanted to.

I was so proud to be in that volunteer shirt, walking around the park alongside a community of people who knew the same pain I was feeling.

I’ve never looked back and have participated in a walk every year since. Even joining the Walk Planning committee for a few years in NYC.

The Alzheimer’s Association gave me a sense of community. Helped educate me about the disease, and how I could best help my grandma. Most importantly, it gave me something tangible to hold onto and work for in a situation where I felt so powerless against the disease.

I’m forever grateful that 17 year old me sought out guidance and found that walk that weekend. I will continue walking until a cure or prevention is found 💜🤍 #walktoendalzheimers #walk2endalz #endalz #walktoendalznyc

Picked the girls up from camp the other day and this was basically our conversation:

Me: “How was camp?!”

Almost 6-year-old: “Good.”
Just-turned-3-year-old: “Good.”

Me: “Who did you play with?

6-year-old: “I don’t remember.”
3-year-old: “I don’t remember.”

Me: “What did you do today?”

6-year-old: “I don’t remember.”
3-year-old: “I don’t remember.”

Me: “Oh… okay.”

So naturally, I drove home assuming they spent the entire day staring at a wall.

Fast forward 5 hours…

The camp counselor uploads photos, and apparently they had the most action-packed day ever—games, crafts, activities, smiles, and enough fun for an entire week.

Not only did they forget to mention all of it, they also forgot to tell me they saw each other!

Why does it feel like pulling teeth when trying to get info out of them about their day?

Please tell me mine aren’t the only ones. by @elexisevy

Recital weekend 2026 is in the books! Skylar and Mackenzie both did a phenomenal job and I’m so proud of them and their hard work. Most importantly, they had fun on stage and it showed! Special shout out to Ms. Lisa and all the teachers at Platinum Dance that made this year so wonderful, Amanda for making the girls feel extra fancy and special in their make up, and to all of the friends we’ve made here at the studio ❤️ by @elexisevy
