Spent the day on set with Latto shooting the @dussecognac Holiday Campaign, and bruh… the energy on this one felt GOOD. Just one of those shoots where everybody’s locked in, music’s right, light is hitting, and the bottle is shining like it knows it’s the star too.

Big love to the crew who held it down all day:
@type_c @jonfeathers @sssinclaire @donny_tu @janatrimble — couldn’t have done this without you.

More coming soon…
Let’s create something iconic.✨

Photographing Rev. @stewartdantec was pure magic. From picking out the perfect wardrobe and gathering inspiration shots from meaningful shoot like some of Mike Tyson, to reading the article draft and having a creative call with Dante beforehand, everything came together seamlessly. Collaborating with the @broadviewmagazine Art director, my awesome partner @moskie11, and of course, the talented Dante, made this shoot so much fun and deeply fulfilling. These editorial images? I’m completely obsessed.

Collaborating with @apaatlanta and the @shepherdcenter has been such a beautiful experience.

We’re celebrating the heroes—patients and providers—whose strength and care fill these halls. I helped lead creative and lighting design for this portrait series, and it’s been so special to bring junior creatives into the fold for hands-on experience.

This is just a little BTS from our day in the studio. Can’t wait to show you what we’ve created for Shepherd’s 50th anniversary.

So much heart in this one. Stay tuned.

Shoutouts to @hopenicole_photo for this great BTS šŸŽ„! And the rest of the good folks that made this possible.

BLACK DANDYISM — THE FINAL CHAPTER

33 years of becoming.
9 years of growth.
And still, I am discovering new ways to express who I am.

As I close this chapter of my Black Dandyism project, I keep coming back to one idea:

Self-expression is an act of becoming.

Throughout this series, I wanted to explore Black Dandyism beyond the clothes.
The suits were never just suits.
The feathers were never just feathers.

The cars, the colors, the details, the hair—none of it was simply about looking good.

It was about choice.

The choice to define yourself before the world does it for you.
To be elegant and rebellious.
Masculine and expressive.
Classic and unconventional.

To honor what came before you without becoming imprisoned by it.
And today, that message feels even more personal.

33 years around the sun.
9 years with my locs.

Nine years of watching something I chose as an expression of myself grow alongside me.
And maybe that’s what this entire project has really been about:

Growth without losing yourself.
I’ve changed.
My style has changed.
My perspective has changed.
My expression will continue to change.
But underneath every version is the same question:

Who am I when I give myself permission to become whoever I choose?

Black Dandyism reminded me that there doesn’t have to be one answer.
We are allowed to reinvent ourselves.
We are allowed to contradict expectations.
We are allowed to honor our history while imagining something new.
And most importantly—
we are allowed to be seen on our own terms.

So as one chapter closes and another year of my life begins, I’ll leave you with the same question this project left me with:

If nobody else’s expectations mattered, who would you give yourself permission to become?

Tell me in the comments.

33. Nine years loc’d. And still becoming.
The next chapter begins now. taken in Atlanta, GA by @eley_photo

BEYOND THE BOX.

What does it mean to dress without asking for permission?

To be masculine without fearing softness.
Powerful without hiding beauty.
Elegant without surrendering individuality.

For me, Black Dandyism is the freedom to explore every dimension of self.

The feathers can be delicate.
The presence can be commanding.
The expression can be unconventional.
And none of those things have to contradict one another.

Because self-expression becomes powerful when we stop dressing according to who the world expects us to be—and start creating from who we know ourselves to be.

There is no contradiction in being many things at once.

Softness and strength.
Tradition and experimentation.
Masculinity and beauty.
Past and future.

Maybe freedom isn’t about finding the perfect box to fit into.
Maybe it’s realizing you never needed the box at all. taken in Atlanta, GA by @eley_photo

When you look at this next picture, I want you to see more than just a photo in a magazine—I want you to see a journey. šŸ“–āœØ

Reading this full piece in POZ Magazine forced me to sit back and reflect on how far God has brought me—from facing trauma and being diagnosed with HIV at 16, to living my purpose out loud every single day. I’ve never been afraid to share my story, because living my truth publicly is what saved my life and what fuels my fight for our community.

Having this story reach a global stage is all about purpose and impact. My ultimate goal has always been to touch lives, give hope, and help as many people as possible across the world. From our front-line advocacy work across the South to launching ADAP ASAP, this platform allows us to reach people globally who need to know they aren't alone and that they can thrive.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the entire POZ Magazine leadership, board, and editorial team for sustaining a platform that amplifies our voices on a global scale. Thank you to Jay Lassiter for writing such a powerful piece and capturing my story with so much care.

A special thank you to my brother B. Angelo (@KeepThatLook) for the incredible fashion design and styling that helped me step fully into my power, and to Eley (@EleyPhoto) for capturing the spirit and vision behind these shots so beautifully.

I put my real heart into this interview with Jay Lassiter, and I really want my community to read the full piece for themselves.

Thank you for walking this journey with me and supporting everything we’re building with LDP Visions and The Talk Factor.

OLD SOUL. NEW ERA.

There’s something about the old school that can’t be replicated.
The cars had character.
The clothes had intention.
style wasn’t about keeping up—it was about standing out.
That spirit is at the heart of Black Dandyism.
Taking what came before us, making it our own, and carrying it forward without losing the soul.
Timeless isn’t a trend.
It’s an attitude.
Same ol’ G.
Just a different chapter. taken in Atlanta, GA by @eley_photo

What does the legacy of Black Dandyism look like when we carry it into the future?

What happens when we take the traditions, the elegance, the creativity, and the pride of those who came before us and reinterpret them through our own eyes?

This is about more than a photoshoot.

It’s about the people who came before me.

The people who refused to disappear.

The people who dressed with intention when the world told them they shouldn’t.

The people who understood that identity is something you can claim, cultivate, and express.

A WORLD BEGINS WITH THE PEOPLE WHO BUILD IT.

Before the clothes.

Before the photographs.

Before the final image.

There was an idea.

Black Dandyism.

A language of style, identity, elegance, resistance, and self-definition.
I wanted to explore what happens when we stop asking what are we supposed to look like? and start asking:
Who do we choose to become?
This is the beginning of that exploration.

Black Dandyism is more than clothing.
It is identity.
It is resistance.
It is creativity.
It is the freedom to define yourself in a world that has constantly tried to define you.
For this project, I wanted to explore what it means to express Black identity through style—not by looking backward, but by reimagining what we can become.
Every detail matters.
The clothes. The posture. The photography. The people behind the vision.
And before the final image could exist, there had to be a gathering of minds, talent, and perspective.
This is where the journey begins.

The photographs are coming.
The stories are coming.
The world we’re building is only beginning.

I thought I was documenting migration. I was wrong. šŸš€

I was documenting contribution.

AFRONAUTS follows real people who trusted themselves enough to leave what they knew, build belonging somewhere new, and bring their own gifts into the communities they found there.

That’s the heartbeat of this work: self-trust, exploration, cultural infusion, and the courage to imagine yourself beyond what you already know.

Now those stories are living in a place built for movement—MARTA’s Oakland City Station—through documentary photography, illustrated reinterpretations, field notes, and sound.

My hope? That somewhere between the platform and your destination, you recognize a little of the Afronaut in yourself.

Self-trust will propel you further than any map.

šŸŽ„ Big love to @cliffdoesitall for capturing the opening artist talk and turning the camera toward the guests to hear what the work sparked in them. Those reflections are fuel as I continue toward the final AFRONAUTS book.
