One year ago today, I had the opportunity to be Jesse Eisenberg’s personal photographer. I was asked to capture photos of him interacting with Park students, but I knew that wouldn’t be enough for me. I secretly set up my @westcottlighting FJ400 outside before the crowds showed up. As we wrapped up I asked if I could have a second to make one more photo. He happily agreed and posed for a “nice” photo. If you know me, you’d know that wouldn’t be enough for me. I vaguely remember saying. “Come on, give em what they want!” And boy he didn’t disappoint! I snapped one photo, it was perfect, and I call it “The Starfish”

This experience already had me over the moon, but seeing it across campus TV screens and peoples reactions on YikYak had me kicking my feet up in the air and giggling like a little kid. BUT I KNEW THAT WOULDN’T BE ENOUGH FOR ME.

So I did it in my senior photo. And as I walked across the stage to get my diploma too. Now that I’ve milked this experience dry, all I can say is thank you Jesse for calling me odd and creating a little bit of Ithaca history.

Edit: I originally posted this as a joke, plagued with post-grad existentialism, even deleted it because I looked stupid, but quickly reposted it... and people started reaching out sharing similar feelings, so I knew I made the right choice sharing it. Trust yourself, and if you have ever created something from an emotional standpoint, share it. Even if you look stupid. by @elibrownlights
