There is so much more nuance to this, and there was no way to communicate everything in a single post. However, this is something that I know I have struggled with.

As we enter Black History Month, I hope this is something you are able to sit with and reflect on. As MLK, Fannie Lou Hamer, and Emma Lazarus have all said, "Until ALL of us are free, NONE of us will be." by @elijah.r.t

It's funny how a laugh can betray you, how it can make you question everything.

Who taught you that?
Where did it come from?
A quiet little laugh,
The insincere one?

It rings in my ears,
Tolls disbelief.
Comes only after cheers,
After praises given earnestly.

Do you think me a liar,
Or yourself - would you cheat?
Whispering things I admire,
Then as if a little lamb, a “bleat”

I don’t like that litte laugh,
It feigns truth.
But I know this old craft,
An ill attempt to soothe.

I had that laugh once too.
So tell me...who taught it to you?
