Space is not for the future. We go to space for the farmer in the village , @nk_amadi Jane Egerton Idehen tell us.

Satellites connect us all, enabling farmers to sell produce, students to learn, and mothers to access healthcare, no matter where they are.

This is what inclusion looks like.

Nigeria’s space program is leading Africa with 3 satellites in orbit. But the real story? The global space economy is projected to hit $3 TRILLION by 2035, and Africa’s share is $20 billion this year.

With over 800 million unconnected people in Africa and Nigeria’s broadband penetration below 50%, the opportunity is massive. Can local players compete with giants like Starlink?

Some conversations stay with you long after the cameras stop rolling.

Sitting with Jane Egerton-Idehen reminded me why we created Venture Valley: to document the stories behind the people building Africa’s future.

From growing up in Ajegunle and nearly becoming a security guard despite studying engineering, to leading one of Nigeria’s most important satellite communications companies, Jane’s story is one of faith, courage and choosing to do the hard things.

But what struck me most was her belief that technology must solve real human problems. Space is not simply about satellites. It is about connecting the farmer, the student and the pregnant woman in communities where access remains limited.

This was a powerful conversation about poverty, education, leadership, impact and what becomes possible when we stop waiting for change and decide to become part of it.

I hope you watch this episode and, more importantly, that Jane’s story gives you the courage to keep going.

From Ajegunle to outer space.

Jane Egerton’s journey proves that no dream is too big. As Managing Director of NICOMSAT, she’s using satellite technology to connect Africa and drive digital transformation.

Did you know Nigeria has had a satellite in space for 20 years? And with over 50% of Africa’s population under 25, the continent is a goldmine of digital talent. Satellite technology is key to Africa’s sovereignty and development

This is the future of African tech.

The more time I spend studying venture capital, the more convinced I become that Africa does not have a creativity problem.

It has a capital readiness problem.

While at the Newton Venture Programme at @londonbschool , every session seems to reinforce the same idea.

Capital rarely flows to potential alone. It flows to structure, governance, and businesses that are prepared to receive it.
One idea from this second module has particularly stayed with me: Exit Readiness.

As founders, we often spend a lot of time thinking about raising capital. Far fewer of us think about how to build companies that investors can eventually exit. Yet, that is how venture capital works. Every successful exit returns capital to investors, allowing them to back the next generation of founders.

It reminded me that building an investable company is only part of the journey. Building an exitable one is just as important.

For me, this is no longer just about learning venture deals or investment frameworks. It is about understanding how these lessons can be applied to Africa’s creative economy.

That thinking is already shaping how we approach CIRP, alongside many other initiatives at TM Global. If we want more investment in creative businesses, we have to build more businesses that investors can back with confidence.

While I was there, I also filmed a new series called No Cap with a VC. In each episode, I’ll be discussing with other VCs about the state of the things in the industry. These are honest and practical lessons for founders, creatives, and entrepreneurs actively building.

Big thanks to @newtonventureprogram for creating a space where founders and investors can learn from one another while thinking deeply about the future of innovation and capital.

Still learning. Still asking questions. Still building.

Because the future of Africa’s creative economy will not only be defined by the stories we tell, but by the businesses we build around them. taken in Takeout Media by @elijahaffi

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the Crea8torium community at Takeout Media as part of their Creator Hop initiative.

What stood out most wasn’t just the conversation, but the shared desire to build meaningful work, navigate uncertainty with intention, and create businesses that endure.

We spoke about leadership, building from the ground up, the realities of entrepreneurship, and the lessons that don’t often make it into presentations or case studies.

My thanks to @salemkinging for the opportunity to host the Crea8torium community and for intentionally creating spaces where creators can learn from one another through honest conversations and shared experiences.

The future of Africa’s creative economy will be shaped not only by great ideas, but by communities willing to learn, share and build together.
I’m grateful to have been part of the conversation. taken in Takeout Media by @elijahaffi

Creating content is easy. Creating content that influences, inspires, and creates lasting impact is intentional.

Our Fellows had an insightful session on Strategic Content Creation for Visibility, Advocacy and Impact, facilitated by Elijah Affi.

The session challenged us to move beyond posting for the sake of visibility and begin creating content with purpose. We explored the importance of understanding our audience, telling compelling stories, building credibility, staying consistent, and measuring success by impact not just likes and views.

One powerful reminder from the session was: “People don’t engage with content because it exists. They engage because it creates value.”

As young women preparing to lead and influence change, we are learning that our voices matter, our stories have power, and our content can become a tool for advocacy, leadership, and transformation.

The stories we tell and how we tell them have the power to shape perceptions, influence change, and create opportunities. That’s why we’re excited to have Elijah Affi join the NAYFLI Fellowship to lead a session on “Strategic Content Creation for Visibility, Advocacy & Impact.”

Elijah Affi is an Executive Producer, Creative Director, and Co-Founder of Technology Media Global (TM Global), a technology and media company building platforms, products, and opportunities across Africa’s creative and innovation ecosystem.

He served as Executive Producer of Tokunbo, Netflix’s number-one film, and has led numerous media, communications, and innovation projects for organisations including the World Bank, TotalEnergies, Ecobank, and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

Through TM Foundation, Elijah founded TM CON, one of Africa’s leading platforms dedicated to upskilling technology and media creators. He also led the development of the African Creators Economy Report and the Nigerian Creators Economy Report, providing valuable insights into one of the continent’s fastest-growing sectors.

Date: July 11, 2026

This session will equip our fellows with practical strategies for creating compelling content that builds visibility, amplifies advocacy, and drives meaningful impact in today’s digital world.

We look forward to an engaging and insightful session.
