The weariness of the prevalence of evil in our culture, can at times cause us to pursue our liberty in other places and other gods. But this is the hour of the sanctification of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ezekiel 36:22-28). The Lord Jesus Christ is cleansing the earth of the misuse of His name by perverted and wicked governments, empires, movements, and cultures. The use of the name of Jesus has at times wrongfully justified abuse, prejudice, unrighteousness, injustice, inequity, and the downtrodding of the least of men. But this is the generation where it all changes.

As we continue to turn to the true and the living God - the Lord Jesus Christ - we will once again declare that deliverance shall come from no other source. Not politicians, not magicians, not false religions, not self-aggrandising acts of the flesh. Our hope is in Jesus Christ alone.

Yesterday I witnessed a prophetic act on behalf of African Americans across the world, declaring the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our community. He is not the religion of the empire, He is the God of our Salvation. He is able to deliver us, and we will find Him in the furnace of our affliction.

In the words of Frederick Douglass (1845), “I love the pure, peaceable, and impartial Christianity of Christ: I therefore hate the corrupt, slaveholding, women-whipping, cradle-plundering, partial and hypocritical Christianity of this land. Indeed, I can see no reason, but the most deceitful one, for calling the religion of this land Christianity. I look upon it as the climax of all misnomers, the boldest of all frauds, and the grossest of all libels…”

Jesus Christ is not American, Jesus Christ is Lord.

We have taught the prophetic within the context of the lie of secularism. The conviction that the prophetic is only called to address things that pertain to the Church and Christianity causes us to miss the rich narratives of prophetic scripture that appeal to social ills, political corruption, and economic inequality. The prophetic must be elevated to social responsibility and this is my place in the prophetic movement globally. My academic exposure to political science, sociology, and law, fused with theology & religion, has provoked a deeper longing for the Church to change the world. We have a lot of work on our hands, let’s rise up to the task.
