ENG HERE! I’ve given myself one year.

One year to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

I want to act — more than anything! — but acting alone doesn’t pay the bills.

I still have one more year at home with my baby, and during that year, I’m going to explore whether I can turn my other skills and education into income streams that would allow me to keep the door open for acting, too.

I’m going to document this year as honestly as I can. I’ll share the realizations, the ideas, the things I learn — and the things that don’t work out. Maybe some of it will help you, too.

If you’re a millennial going through a career crisis, come along. Maybe you’re thinking about changing careers. Maybe you’re considering entrepreneurship. Let’s figure out our next step together over the coming year. by @elinanucha

@nayttelijaliitto hyväksy mut viralliseksi jäseneksi toukokuun alussa, ja sen myötä sain alkaa käyttää ammattinimikkeeni perässä FIA-liitettä, joka viittaa kansainväliseen näyttelijäliittojen tunnukseen.

Tää on mulle iso juttu ja yks lapsuuden haaveen täyttyminen. Toki mä olin ammattinäyttelijä ennenkin jäsenyyttä, mut tän myötä oon virallisesti, siis ihan aikuisten oikeesti, sellanen. 🥹

Oon tehny hitosti töitä tän unelman eteen; kouluttautunut, kompastellut, lentänyt rähmälleen ja noussut ylös uudelleen.

Cringeydenkin uhalla tän kuvaparin taustalle soimaan upee millenium-bangeri, jonka tahtiin pikku-elina aikanaan omassa huoneessa haaveili ja pehmoleluilleen esiinty. 🫶🏻 Se tyyppi ois tästä kaikesta varmaan aika innoissaan.

I can’t get over how comical that crowd of tens of thousands of screaming women, all dressed in white, looked — and how I was proudly one of them.

Since the concert, I’ve been thinking about how little age really matters in the end. Even though we’ve gained a few wrinkles over the years, I could still see our teenage selves reflected in everyone’s eyes that night. taken in MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA by @elinanucha

😍 taken in Helsinki by @elinanucha

ENG // Five life lessons a stranger shared with me in Esplanadi Park — and you’ll want to hear them too

An older woman sat down next to me in Esplanadi Park, and her tote bag caught my attention. At first, I considered secretly taking a photo of it, until I came to my senses and simply asked for permission. Taking that photo turned into a 45-minute encounter I won’t forget anytime soon, if ever. Here are the greatest pieces of wisdom she shared with me.

The richest are those who recognize joy
“Do you know, Elina, what brings you joy?” she asked. “If you do, you have the keys to a happy life. By doing the things that bring you joy, you can help yourself and instantly make your life more fulfilling.”

Honest people are forever in opposition
Being honest all the time will inevitably lead to conflict. People don’t want to hear your honest opinion. They want to hear things they like. Learn to recognize the situations where honesty is truly needed.

If you don’t want to grow old, the alternative is to die young
“My life is already in its twilight years, but I’m grateful for what I’ve been given.”

Difficult times in life become our teachers
It’s hard to see it while you’re going through them, but you understand it afterwards. Maybe this is the silver lining that things reveal in their own time.

To love or to be loved
The wisest people choose to love first, without expecting that love to be returned. Often it does come back, but if it doesn’t, your own heart can still remain light and pure.

In the end, we squeezed each other’s hands. We thanked each other for the moment we had shared and for the September sun that had brought us to the same bench. We wished each other a good and grace-filled rest of our lives.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade 🍋 taken in Helsinki, Finland by @elinanucha

ENG HERE || I did these two small (big) things last week to figure out what I want to do when I grow up.

A couple of weeks ago, it felt like things were moving forward and so was I. Last week, though, a rainy kind of stillness seemed to settle into my days.

We’re sleeping really badly at the moment. My head feels full and foggy, and my thoughts aren’t exactly at their clearest. Time is also incredibly limited, and sometimes it feels like I have to decide whether to use that tiny pocket of free time to have a cup of coffee, shave my legs, or figure out what I want to do in the future.

We’re whole human beings, and we’re rarely at our most productive when we’re exhausted and pissed off. Sometimes those tiny things that make us feel better are actually the things we need in order to move towards the bigger goal — or find an answer to the bigger question. That’s when I like to ask myself ”what can I do to help myself right now?” So I did these two small things to clear some space in my head for this week.

I invested in my friendships.

My best friend and I had a spontaneous sleepover. Once the baby was asleep, we watched a classic movie and ate way too much popcorn. My friend said something to me: “You’re one of the few people I can be alone with.”

Is there a better compliment?

She had her knitting with her and said she felt like she could have her own relaxed alone time even when she was with me, because there was no need to be anything or do anything. I also saw two other friends during the week, and if anything can ground me in the present and pull me away from worrying about the future, it’s spending time with people I love.

I cleaned.

Chaos in my cupboards means chaos in my head. I simply can’t create any space in my mind when I know there are things hiding in closets that I need to get rid of. And if there’s one thing creativity needs, it’s room to breathe.

So I took a couple of hours, threw out old papers and put some clothes up for sale. There’s still plenty left to do, but you have to start somewhere.

I feel just a tiny bit lighter heading into a new week. My time is still limited, but I just have to keep taking those small steps forward.
