POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Exactly 10 years ago today on 2nd November 2015, I invested a whole ton of my savings to pay for a camera crew to come and film my 'Billy Joel Songbook' show at The Stables in Milton Keynes.

The result was a concert movie of the show that in 2019 won an award in New York at the Independent Music Awards for 'Best Long Form Music Video'.

That award led to a phone call in 2020 from Phil McIntyre Live, one of the best promoters in the world, where I was told that they would like to promote my show.

In April 2024 because of their expert marketing and PR investment, we sold out the London Palladium . And because of their continued faith in my show, we are on track to do the same again in March 2026 with more wonderful things planned beyond that.

But it all stemmed from that one night 10 years ago today!

The list of people to thank, from that day to this, is endless but I hope you know who you are. Thank you all so much! ❤️

'The Billy Joel Songbook Live' DVD is exclusively available from my website ELIOPACE.COM (link in bio) or you can stream it on Amazon Prime, iTunes Music Store or Google Play. 💪🏼

I've had so many lovely messages from folks who know me from 'The Billy Joel Songbook' and didn't know that I'm a singer/songwriter in my own right. Understandable because until last November, I hadn't performed my own songs for 11 years.🤦🏻‍♂️

So now I'm back doing my own material, as well as doing Mr Joel's, here's one of mine, 'Still Want You', recorded live for BBC Radio 2 🎶

If you'd like to come and hear a whole bunch of my songs live with the most amazing band, I have two exclusive shows this year:

21 MAY • The Apex • Bury St Edmunds

23 JULY • Hull Truck Theatre • Hull

The show is called *MY SONGBOOK, MY LIFE*... A night of MY songs, some of my favourite covers and some stories about my life and career!🎹👍🏼

Get tickets from ELIOPACE.COM 🎟️ Link in bio

Can't wait to see you all there!💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

To think that before TikTok, Billy Joel's beautiful and powerful 'Vienna' was just an album track that (mostly) only us diehard fans knew about. Now the #1 streaming Billy Joel song in the world, 'Vienna' is visibly attracting a younger audience to my 'Billy Joel Songbook' show, which is just incredible because it means that his genius has made it to the next generation! 💪🏼😁

There's plenty more where that came from, so come on TikTok, do your work... 'The Downeaster Alexa', 'Sleeping With The Television On' or 'Weekend Song' next please! 💪🏼

By the way, what would be YOUR Top 3 Billy songs you'd want TikTok to make popular worldwide? 🤔 Let me know in the comments, and obviously I'm not talking about the hits which are already popular worldwide!

Thank you to you guys in De Montfort Hall, Leicester and York Barbican over the past few days for being, yet again, tremendous audiences to play to. 🎹❤️

And thank you @tracywiseman1 for this video! 😘

I'm loving seeing all the social media activity celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stevie Wonder's masterpiece, 'Songs In The Key Of Life'. 💿

Stevie Wonder's music has been a huge inspiration to me. I saw him live back in the early 90s and his song 'Ebony Eyes' (from that album) was the song I performed on Les Dawson's last @bbc TV series in 1989, and the only cover on my debut album of my own songs, 'A Seat At My Table' in 2009.

I was 8 years old when 'Songs In The Key Of Life' came out and I can vividly remember how much my Dad loved hearing one of its biggest hits, 'Sir Duke' on our little, brown Bush radio every time it came on! 📻

So, it being one of his favourites, I was privileged to perform it for him, live on @bbcradio2's 'Weekend Wogan', on his 70th birthday, 4th July 2010, with him sitting in the Radio Theatre audience watching on! 🎹

Thank you Stevie for your incredible songbook and congratulations on creating a true work of art! ❤️

#4 - THE REVIEWS ARE COMING IN

Click on the Link in my bio and you'll see it!

And for this one, you might want to make yourself a nice cup of something and a couple of slices of toasted rye bread with marmite and peanut butter (100%, no sugar) before you settle in to read it! 😂

Music and film connoisseur and Professor of Geography at @aberystwyth.university, @markiejwhitehead75 has become one of my best friends since we met in 2016 at a '@billyjoel Songbook' show. But still, to have anybody delve so deep and explore your creativity like this is an unspeakable honour! Thank you so very much Mark. Truly blown away! ❤️

#3 - THE REVIEWS ARE COMING IN

I promise you, no money was involved here for @mattottewill to write these unbelievably kind words about my new album, #IllTakeItFromHereKid 💿😆

However, in the spirit of full disclosure, I should tell you that this brilliant man is not only a fantastic songwriter and musician, written music technology and sound recording qualifications for universities, he was also the first person to record, engineer and produce my first proper batch of professional demos in the early 90s. Amongst those were demos for two songs that have now finally been released on my new album AND the original, non-Christmas version of 'What A Day'.🎶

Matthew, thank you so much for your support over the years. This review means the world to me. 🎹❤️
______________

Elio Pace’s 'I’ll Take It From Here, Kid' is one of the greatest albums ever made. It’s an example of what is possible when the musical and technical talents of multiple contributors are in synchronisation and working at their very best towards a common goal.

It’s a concept album in the best sense, a love letter from the young musician of his early years to the consummate performer of the present. Crafting nascent musical ideas and snippets of youthful inspiration, captured on cassette, and nurtured by a loving father, into a sophisticated album of songs, is inspired. Every corner of the album is inhabited by wonderful music, lyrics, arrangements, performance and technical production, all in service of some of the best songs you’ll hear this year. Or ever.
