This concept popped in my head as I drove past the local little league diamond and saw 3 kids playing baseball (yes, they still do that contrary to the popular narrative about kids and going outside.) how can you not be romantic about baseball? @mlb #baseball #littleleague #childhood #sports #inspiration #poetry #story #writing #summer #greatness #nostalgia by @eliquate

Spiders, 10/11/2022
What has 8 legs, 1000 eyes and the audacity to exist in my presence? I wonder what It wust ve like to live with a total indifferen ce to the concerns of a creature that can vote “yes” or no on where you can build your web, lay your eges, and decides what wall is actually going to be fatal to crawl up. Indifference holds a kind of liberation that we wight never know.
Sure, we dont have to liquify our food and drink it through a fang hote, But is that really SO much worse that having to care ALL THE TIME? And not Just about the big things either. It’s, at least a-ccording to Gavin Rosdale
*the little things
that crawl into our mouths an average al 8 times a year. Even that statistic is just an elaborate form of anti spider propaganda. If anything, spiders are one of the few bugs on the planet that kind of do our dirty work. Unlike the cockroach ant or fly, we are not competing with the spider for food and resources. in fact the world would be significantly more infested without them. So what gives? when did our brains decide they were the enemy? and why? Is it because they are ugly? No. well, actually maybe. We are pretty shallow when it comes to our aninal prefrances.
Just ask the Turkey. I think it’s their indefference to our existance that we see as some subconscious afront to our supremicy.
“If you only knew how gross we find you, you wouldn’t DARE drop fron the cieling or loiter in the corner of my work shed.”
But they do, and it’s an act of defiance worthy of respect, if not reverence. We could learn a lot I rom that special brand of arrogance that says “I refuse to apologize for my existance. If you find the way I eat disgusting, ir implore you to look in the mirror you disgusting fucks.
At least I can build my own house. Oh, and you’re welcome for all, the mosquitos
I ate you ungratefull ape.” Actually. doubt they give us that much thought by @eliquate

It’s 52° and sunny. Smells like maple, dirt, pine, and a light smell of mildew from the mushrooms and fallen leaves. While this was a video from this morning, I am currently resting in bed watching Lonesome Dove on VHS with my oldest while my youngest takes a nap and my beautiful wife sews our boy’s Halloween costumes. When Otis wakes up, it’s back into the woods we go. A most perfect fall day… might have some ice cream in a minute. by @eliquate

Fall is just the best. It should feel like something coming to an end, but for some reason it doesn’t. It feels like… just a nice part of the cycle. by @eliquate

How do you teach a toddler that lying is bad? My sons is almost 3 and lied, pretty poorly I must say, for the first time. by @eliquate

“Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it
Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth”. Mary Schmich. by @eliquate

As a relatively big guy, I’ve always tried my best to use my size to make people feel safe around me. I hope my boys do the same if they end up big guys. by @eliquate

I don’t think one of these pillars of observation is more important than the next, but I think if you can appreciate all 3 equally you’re going to have a fun time walking in the woods with your sons.
The scientific - how does it work? What is it made of?
The narrative - what is the story that could be told here?
The aesthetic- huh… that is really quite lovely to look at. by @eliquate
