I am proud to present my senior thesis EQUALIBRIA as an expression of my dynamic relationship with a higher power. As part of my spiritual journey, I challenged myself to confront the cosmic riddle and reimagine my answer into tangible garments, in an attempt to ironically portray the unknown. With a specific focus on my belief of balance and harmony, the collection explores how something cannot be defined without an equal opposite through the use of contrasting silhouettes and couture techniques.Lace appliqué adorned in rhinestones can be seen breaking through the confines of the pinstriped wool cashmere suiting on both looks. This fabrication required me to dye, cut out, symmetrically place, embroider, and embellish each individual piece of lace. I have never put more effort into anything in my life. This consumed me. To say that having the patience to trust the process was difficult is an understatement, but passion isn’t always a pretty process. Passion requires grit and creativity to get through seemingly endless road blocks. I’m grateful I somehow found it in myself to complete my thesis and even though we’ve gone through a lot to get here, I thank God for blessing me with this passion.
