The approximate lifespan of a gnome, according to Rien Poortvliet’s folklore, is 400 years. They grow up slowly. They live with their parents until they’re a 100 years old, and that is also about when they get married and have kids. A male will have built a home before his proposal, much like birds do. Marriage takes place under a full moon. 🌙 Wedding gifts include a cuckoo clock 🕰️

Gnomes can only give birth to twins. When the young gnomes are born, a tree is planted. They visit the tree every year to carve a stripe onto it. 🌳

Quercus robur 🍃 or the common oak, is a species of the plant family Fagaceae. The large tree grows up to 40 metres tall and is native to temperate climates, residing in most of Europe and western Asia.

Flowering starts in spring. The fruits are borne in clusters of 2-3 and each acorn is 1,5-4cm long and are carried in a shallow cup (cute fairy hat) that is distinct to the species. They start out white, become green and end up brown and black during autumn.
