Elizabeth Strano is a burlesque performer and visual artist with a love of neon lights, classic ’80s rock and living with just the right amount of semi-reckless abandon. Also known as Lady Jane Sparrow, she has performed with Ladies in Lace, Empowerment in Heels, A Night Of… Las Vegas and The Secret Circus, drawing creative inspiration from artists and storytellers including Josephine Baker, Anthony Bourdain and Noah Kahan.

This past weekend I celebrated 8 years (!!!) in Los Angeles, and I celebrated the only way I know how - with a burst water pipe and demolition in our apartment 😂😅 Safe to say this city has definitely helped me develop a better sense of humor!

I really had no idea what was in store for me when I moved here - like all of us, I had big dreams and big expectations for myself. My dreams have shifted and changed and grown, and my expectations for myself have, in a way, lowered. Not because I’m not still dreaming big, but because I got really tired of not treating myself kindly and with grace. If I’m gonna get shit done for myself, I’ve learned that the only way I’m gonna get it done is with some compassion.

This (very long) reel is all chronological, from 2018 to now, and I’m so thankful that I’m still dancing. I’m still creating. I’m still curious. What a gift all of that is. I’m grateful to get to enjoy the ride, to every single person I’ve met along the way, and to have more than one place to get to call home 💕 here’s to the next adventure, Los Angeles! taken in Los Angeles, California by @elizabeth_strano

A few self-portraits and a thought or two, as Pride Month comes to a close:

As a bisexual woman, I’ve long grappled with the idea of being “queer enough.” Biphobia is real and I’ve never wanted to take up too much space. But someone reminded me earlier this month that I am exactly enough as I am - so if no one’s told you today, or recently, or ever, you are enough exactly as you are. You are seen. And you are loved.

I gotta say, @bigtimebigtimebigtimebigtime X @smorgasburgla was the collab my little creative heart needed ✨

One of the subjects I actually love to capture is - wait for it - cars. There’s something about the details, the movement, and the passion within the community that speaks to me in the exact same way that dance or food or portraits does. And while I’m not much good at actually working on cars (just ask my partner 😅) photography has been a wonderful way for me to step into this world.
