Well she’ll kill me for this but I just have to shout out my extraordinary daughter in New York who this summer took on two different internships. The first involved licensing agreements, which as an intellectual property lawyer, you can just imagine how happy that made me (ha ha ha) and the second was as a production assistant for the City Parks SummerStage Concert Celebration of what would’ve been the 100th birthday of the legendary jazz artist Miles Davis. Isabelle, I am in awe of you every day. So incredibly proud of you. 🥹🥰 taken in New York City by @elizabethwking

Father’s Day! “He’s perfect.”🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

At Red Rocks the first night after Teddy’s surgery June 3rd. We weren’t allowed to see him for two days so we did the rational thing and saw Yo Yo Ma in concert. 😍🙌

One of the most special things I have done is to finally see Bob Dylan perform live—with Alex—in Boston on July 16th. You always read a lot of comments and see a lot of funny memes about how Bob doesn’t play his big hits at these shows. But the thing that’s funny to me is that it’s very easy to forget one crucial fact: Bob is 85 years old and throughout Bob‘s life he has always played what speaks to him in the timeframe in which he is living. That is actually what’s made his poetry so timeless, earning him the Nobel Prize 2016. So that night he played a lot of deep cuts, including the opening song which he first debuted live in the town where I grew up El Paso, Texas in November 1978. I did not know that, but I looked it up after the show and it made the privilege of seeing him that much more special to me. Alex and I felt so lucky to be there.

If you ever have the opportunity to listen to his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, he talks about three important books that influenced him, and one is the Odyssey. Much like Odysseus I think Bob has been a traveler on a life journey and now he is thinking profoundly about that life. His song choices reflect that thought. Truly, it was a privilege to see it. The photograph that opens this reel is not mine. I found it online, but it’s a great representation of what he looked like that night even though it wasn’t taken that night. This what an 85 year-old poet and songwriter for the ages looks like. He looks spectacular to me. But because it is easy to forget that Bob started writing those “big hits“ 65 years ago when he was 20 years old it’s important to remember: One thing that none of us can escape is the arc of aging. So just imagine the brilliance that it takes to have written with such depth and profundity as he did in his 20s. And because it is easy to forget, I found this video last night of Bob performing when he was 35 years old in 1975. Tell me the man can’t sing or rock out. He’s incredible. And there’s no one who can write the way Bob Dylan writes. After the song, I added a clip from a 60 Minutes interview he gave Ed Bradley in 2004, 22 yrs ago. His honesty and grateful self awareness is breathtaking. #bobdylan taken in Boston, Massachusetts by @elizabethwking

Jane Goodall with a great deal of wisdom recorded in 2025 and not released at her own request until after her death last October. The lady had unrivaled expertise on our natural habitat, and knew from whence she spoke. by @elizabethwking

26 years and one day (plus one teeny tiny emergency appendectomy) later: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL! Your 26th year has brought you incredible success and happiness not to mention one heck of a birthday/Fourth of July #semisesquicentennial weekend, an unprecedented heatwave, then nonstop rain, and also that tiny incidental unscheduled stop at the famous Newport Hospital to start things up and make sure we never forget it. 🤣🥴 But we couldn’t be prouder of you or more excited for all you’re doing in Washington and your bright future! We’re just glad to be along for the ride. We ALL love you so much. It’s such a better vibe when you’re in the room. 🥰🙏🥰🥳🥳🎂

On the occasion of our country’s #Semiquincentennial, this is the 4th and final scene of Zuber’s “The American War of Independence.” From the Zuber annals: “It is still printed today ‘à la planche’ with the 2300 antique woodblocks, carved in 1852 by the manufacturer’s workers.” *The same woodblocks are used today.* “Zuber Manufactory is the last in the world to produce panoramic sceneries with woodblocks…a true work of art.” The American War of Independence is only produced every seven years since 1860, and even today is made at Zuber’s factory Rixheim, Alsace, France where Zuber has made all of its papers since 1797. This 4 scene set hangs in the White House in its entirety (possibly embellished by gold leaf paint purchased at Home Depot by the current occupant but still😉).

Brought to you by my living room as testament to the idea that one can love America without hating immigrants. 🇺🇸❤️
