Day 7 of the Menorca Art & Culural Retreat. A fabulous book sculpture workshop with @juditturportella. We learnt how to manipulate upcycled books (Spanish themed) into a yin yang sculpture. Day 6 of the Menorca Art & Cultural Retreat. Morning visit to @espai_biel_mercadal to see the art and design of father & son Biel and Hector. Hector @hector_art_studio generously shared insights into their creative process, collaborations and legacy. Next we spent an inspirational few hours in the studio of artist @magdalena.triay. Surrounded by her gorgeous weavings of upcycled fishing nets, Magda led us in a water color workshop capturing the colors and feel of the Menorcan landscape. Day 4 of the Menorca Art & Cultural Retreat. Morning visit to @hauserwirthmenorca on Isla del Rey with retreat participants and dear Menorcan friends. Many exciting things happening with the renovations of the historic medical buildings and gardens. Braved Martin Creed’s installation “half the air in a given space”. Thought it would feel claustrophobic but it actually felt euphoric. Afternoon spent creating art. Full body Cyanotype and painted papers. Day 3 part 2 of the Menorca Art & Cultural retreat. A very fun cooking workshop with @kaliz_takeaway. We made stuffed aubergines Menorcan style, aioli, hake and vegetables, tapenade and got to try other yummy dishes. What a treat! Day 2 of the Menorca Art and Cutural retreat. A visit to the @trebalugerequinerescuecenter to see the wonderful rescue work they do with primarily horses and donkeys but other animals too. A visit to @ceramicavico to see colorful and whimsical ceramic pieces. Finally an evening tasting of local products with saffron. Cheese, honey, beer and gin all infused with saffron. Day 1 of the Menorca Art & Cultural retreat. Fantastic book binding workshop with artist @juditturportella Participants are creating their own art books to use as creative journals during the retreat. Making art is hungry work and we are enjoying the fab meals prepared by @stickyeggart Bacalao with roasted rosemary potatoes and grilled veges followed by almond lemon cake.
