Arty, alternative - but chique. What I found in my notes after our first conversation. We talked about what that meant for their photos. Film photos, experiments, flash, some cool but classic family shots.

I’d classify the result as an unscientific study of industrial elegance. With an abundance of of yes, ands.

Yes, art. And also driving through town blasting Nelly’s Just A Dream.
Yes, classy. And also rave glasses for everyone at the dance party.
Yes, arriving to deep techno beats. And also film noir projections on softly billowing drapery.
Yes, black tie. And also tying up your dress at night because if you can’t dance like your life depends on it, what’s the point?

After the petals were thrown, the kisses were stolen, the crushing hugs were doled out, I snuck up and asked. How would you feel about going back inside for a minute?

I don’t interrupt all that often during a wedding day. But when I do, there’s a good reason. (And that good reason is usually a patch of delicious light.)

A little ode to 10 years of @tabloomargot.

I can’t remember when you first got on my radar. I do remember we tried to meet for coffee in those early years, but couldn’t make it work, because life. It took us until 2018 to finally meet, at a wedding in the North of France.

The guests danced so hard that night, they almost danced a hole in the floor.

Our kind of party.

You started in 2016 and so did I. It feels a little like we grew up together in the past decade, with an endless hunger. Always striving for more. More creativity, more innovation, more experiences. More oysters, that too.

Margot, I love your endless lust for life, your craziness, your kind heart. How deeply you care. How you continually strive for the very best. How you always find the best places to eat, because why would we want to waste time on subpar food? How you always find the most beautiful places to stay, because life is too short to look at depressing interior design.

When I look at everything you’ve created and achieved, my heart just bursts with pride. You are one of a kind. You don’t just throw great parties, you are the party.

Here’s to another decade of of Italian roadtrips; jumping in pools together; taking the train to Paris just to have lunch; tiramisu wheelbarrows; bottles of red wine for dinner; going crazy over incredible sunrises; frantic backwards golf cart rides to find the best spot for golden hour; and of course vongole. Lots and lots of vongole. by @elkevdende

Eline and Tim knew that if they couldn’t bring their guests to South-Africa, they wanted to bring South-Africa to their wedding celebrations. Wine, sun drenched hills, relaxed atmosphere, views for days. They got as close to South-Africa as they could without ever leaving the country.

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days with my family. Can I tell you a little bit about my parents?

They got married against the wishes of my grandparents, because my father was a rebellious marxist with a beard. On the day of their wedding, they went to the courthouse, played a volleyball match afterwards, went to the pub with their friends and partied until 5 am. My father overslept and got fired. They’ve been married for 52 years.

They find deep joy in classical music (my father), photographing tiny wildflowers (my mother) and bringing people together (both of them).

They’re always ready to help other people. Throughout their lives they’ve fostered several kids, they’ve provided a home for refugees of war, they’ve always shared food with whatever stranger turned up on their doorstep (hungry or not).

74 and 78, and still up for trying new things. We took these photos last year, on a road trip through the Dolomites, after my father’s first ride ever on a cable lift.

My parents, my beacons, my rocks, my home, my cradle.

Life-livers standing brave in the river of time.

Living proof that you don’t need a big wedding for a lasting marriage, but a lot of empathy and a lot of joy sure do help.

For anyone telling me you’re shy to reach out because your wedding won’t be a grand affair, or the styling/budget will be limited - do you really think I don’t want to capture that pub full of friends at 4:30am, the hugs, the toasts, the boisterous laughs, the song singing, the final kiss before walking out into the dark winter morning?
