unpopular opinion: we need to stop treating our free time like it has to look a certain way to be worth it.

sometimes I want to get dressed up, go out, and have a night worth talking about. other times, I want to stay home, make something good to eat, and enjoy a slower evening.

neither is more exciting or fulfilling than the other. you can love going out and love being at home. you can be spontaneous and still appreciate your routine.

not every moment needs to be productive, aesthetic, or Instagram-worthy to count as living.

do what you actually enjoy, not what you think makes your life look more interesting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLA!! @ella.birkland 🥂

The older I get, the more I’d rather be gifted a memory than another thing.

A dinner somewhere new. A movie you’ve been dying to see. A concert. A day out you’ll still talk about years later.

I loved Bernie’s Cinema Club the first time I went, so getting to see some experience it for the first time honestly feels like the kind of gift that means more than something I could unwrap and forget about.

Because things eventually become clutter.
Experiences become stories and laughing our asses through The Shining is definitely gonna be a core memory.

Plant lovers are safe here!

Obsessing over all the little details you’ve got starting in your house miss girl, you are so incredibly gifted at making a space feel like yours. Ella has been studying tirelessly to become an Interior Designer but as you can tell, given she moved in mere months ago she’s already there… just awaiting the educational confirmation.

Took miss @ella.birkland to see The Shining for the first time for her birthday so welcome all the October vibes 🥂

@bernieskelowna has been a GO TO since I moved to the Okanagan. There’s something irreplaceable about seeing a film in a theatre.

Cinema was made to be experienced — the lights going down, the room going quiet, the score filling the space, and a story unfolding larger than life in front of you. In a world where everything is becoming increasingly instant and disposable, going to the theatre feels like choosing to experience art instead of simply consuming it.

+ the menu and espresso martinis make it even better than supporting chain theatres.
