over the past few weeks i finished a score, wrote new songs, got a new job, went moderately crazy, tried pottery for the first time, worked on a short, made friends, missed multiple appointments, tried to ignore this, felt miserable, felt relief, cut my own bangs (huge mistake. make sure to look at a mirror while you do this), and probably many other unimportant things. i am going to try to get better. i am going to try again. i am going to start recording again. i’m going to be okay. i think. i think i am going to be okay. by @ella.papo

i think we need to abolish the self tape. this is my girlfriends shirt. the fabric is quite soft. i have been recording vocals all week. somehow i never feel quite satisfied. i have been feeling quite bad about myself as of late. i tend to use this as an excuse to stay stuck. i think i will find my way out. maybe. hopefully. i am doing self tapes and they are shooting people in the street. they have always been shooting people in the street in this country. does that change anything? i wonder if we will ever be free. i’m writing this under pictures of myself that i took while the country is burning. the country has always been burning. the world too. to know this and still get up to do the dishes feels insane. to continue to take selfies feels immoral. why am i posting then? at the end of the day i don’t know if my self reflection really matters. my pictures surely do not. the instagram algorithm responds primarily to faces. all thoughts are secondary. i don’t know what im trying to say here. i apologize for everything. by @ella.papo

this past year i released an ep, made friends, cried a lot, did worse, did better, changed my hair, humiliated myself probably , and likely many other things!
politically speaking this year was terrible. probably one of the worst i think. but also i saw people come together in the most beautiful ways.
there are so many people and so may things i have in my life to be grateful for. for years thought i would never live past twenty. now i want to eat the world raw.
my hope is that this new year will be one of love and togetherness, one of dignity and opportunity and autonomy and connection for all. i hope we all get to experience the small miracle of kindness, both giving and receiving. i hope we can join hands in our suffering and care for each other with tenderness.
