Meet our newest Ella Travel advisor, Tanzania local and award-winning safari owner, Amanda 🇹🇿

She is both incredibly knowledgable about every inch of the country from her own personal experience of growing up and building her business there, but she also embodies much of what makes our advisors so unique and special.

Amanda cares deeply about the people, culture, land, and wildlife of Tanzania. Born and raised in the Arusha region, one of Tanzania’s main gateways to its national parks and safari destinations, Amanda’s family is originally from the Chaga community in the Kilimanjaro region, at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. ⛰️🌍

Her experience growing up next to some of the country’s most spectacular nature and wildlife has sparked a passion for sharing, supporting and preserving Tanzania’s unique culture and wildlife early in life. 🌳🌄

She has gone on to co-found Still Waters Safaris with her younger sister, Asnath. Still Water Safaris is unique to the region: an award-winning, 100% locally owned and women-led safari company specializing in meaningful journeys across Tanzania and East Africa, they are committed to sustainability and community impact, and supported by specialized local guides. 🦒🦁🐘

When asked what she would most like people to know about her home, Amanda said: “Tanzania offers so much more than Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar — there’s so much to discover here” 🏖️🍲

Winning Travel Startup of the Year was one of my proudest moments.

We had spent the past year building, pivoting our whole business model — a feeling most founders know all too well.

To be nominated and win the Bessie's Startup Award at WITS after that meant so much more than any generic startup award could. It meant that the very people we were building for valued and wanted what we created.

Through my years at WITS I've connected with some of the most inspirational women in travel who I'm now proud to call my friends (@maximumbeth , @racheloffduty , @pueblayorkinc , @jessieonajourney , looking at you!).

I've learned, I've grown, and I'm so excited to give 5 women the chance to do the same.

It was only two years between my first WITS as a total newbie to the industry, and our Travel Startup of the Year award. I credit a lot of that growth to being in the right room with the right people.
