Thank you @lafedesss for selecting me to be apart of @dolcegabbana Gen D Vol 2 and for your support during the project.

Also @aaaaandreeeee who helped the exhibit come to life, ensuring all the final details were executed.

From working with glass artisans in Murano, selecting stone in Tivoli and seeing my clay prototypes transformed into Gold polished brass in Milan, it has been an incredible and inspiring experience. More than just sculptural lamps it was as an opportunity to tell the story of heritage and culture, something that the Dolce and Gabbana heavily embodies.

Meet the 2026 residents: Ella Bulley.

@ellabulleystudio is a British-born Ghanaian artist and material designer based in London and Accra. Her multidisciplinary practice combines contextual research, material exploration and artisanal techniques to create objects and experiences that narrate the craft process and explore historical, social and cultural movements.

Her interest in material exploration developed during her studies at Central Saint Martins, where she completed an MA in Material Futures (formerly MA Textile Futures). She has also undertaken a design residency at the Design Museum in London, further developing her research-led approach to materials and making.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at London Design Festival, Milan Design Week, Zagreb Design Week, Somerset House and the Design Museum, as well as at Tendence and Ambiente. She was named one of the Crafts Council’s Design Graduates to Watch, while her project Saccharum received the Form: Innovative Craft Award. by @ellabulleystudio

‘Transitions’ has been nominated for The Ralph Saltzman Prize 2025!

The Design Museum has announced the five nominees for its fourth annual Ralph Saltzman Prize, which celebrates emerging product designers in recognition of Ralph Saltzman’s design legacy. I’m delighted to be shortlisted alongside alongside a group of talented designers, each pushing the boundaries of material innovation and manufacturing techniques.

Being selected and recognised for this project by the Design Museum’s curatorial team a is a true honour.

Reclaiming narratives with Artistry on the plate by @ellabulleystudio and @chefphilippesonou

Last week we invited an audience to explore the flavours of Benin and Ghana. We set out to show that West African food does ‘plate well’, West African ceramic material can enhance the dining space and the ingredients from the region can be included in discourse surrounding agriculture sustainability.

The theme for this month is ‘reclaiming narratives’. So, is this not a great moment to bring the materiality element to the front?

I am not a potter, clay is one of the many materials I work with. I am often confused with being a potter because I made some plates and the story got lost.

We are excited about our collaboration, where will be using design and cuisine to translate stories of tradition and heritage, to take our audience on a journey to discover the rich flavours of Benin and Ghana.

This year’s theme for Black History Month is “Reclaiming Narratives,” and marks a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture.
