Dear Viola,

I still can’t believe our California trip ended with a goodbye. a year ago, you were a stranger from another country, somehow you became one of the most important people in my life, and healed me in places i didn’t know needed healing. you filled my junior year with so much laughter, “you had to be there” moments, and memories I’ll carry with me forever. from everyday moments, and everyday routine, to a week spent making memories in California, every second felt special simply because you were there. watching you leave from LAX yesterday was one of the hardest goodbyes I’ve ever had to say. my heart hurts knowing I can’t spend my last year of high school with you. but at the same time, I’m so grateful that our paths crossed at all. not everyone gets lucky enough to find a friendship that changes them in just one year. thank you for being my best friend, for making me laugh when I needed it most, for every conversation, every memory, every quest, and for making this year unforgettable. no amount of distance will ever change how much you mean to me. I hope home welcomes you with open arms, and I hope you know that you’ll always have a home and people who love you here too.
