House of Love - research for an original opera conceived by myself and my dear friend Mira Calix.

We sat for hours you and me dreaming of a woman entombed in an eternity of darkness. She knew that to feel love for just one moment she would have to leave this world forever. She left behind a bloom too beautiful, it’s unworldly scent dancing forever in the memory of just one kiss.

Echoes - An original dance circus piece conceived and directed by me. Coproduced by DREAM and @roundhouseldn funded by @aceagrams. A site specific performance over five nights in Maiden Lane Estate Camden, London.

It’s week three and two of the young creators in the Croydon group talk PROCESS ✨!

We have:

Written down a memory

Then turned this memory into a fairytale by changing the outcome giving our realism some magic Angela Carter style!

We picked out key words and identified a feeling this story gives us

We used these words to make movement and used the feeling of the story to give the movement a quality

‘We started a dance!’

A Fairy Tale: Empowering Young People Through Creativity.

A Fairy Tale is a creative research project offering free storytelling and movement workshops to young people in Croydon and London. Together, we’ll turn their memories into modern-day fairy tales - giving them the tools to shape their own stories and futures.

Why this matters:

Young people deserve the space to imagine bigger futures. But with arts funding cut and schools stretched, many don’t get the chance to be creative. A Fairy Tale is a project to change that - free, creative workshops that help young people build confidence, explore their imaginations, and see their stories brought to life on stage and screen.

I am working with with National Centre for Circus Arts, The Roundhouse and Orchard Park High School to collaborate with young co-creators to inspire:

Confidence in self-expression

Collaboration through creative teamwork

Imaginative thinking to see new possibilities

This is where you come in! With your help we will be able to:

Give young people the creative space they deserve in a safe environment

Show them their ideas matter

Create beautiful films and performances they can be proud of

Build momentum to secure larger, long-term funding for the full show
