“Lunareth” Choreographed by me and in collaboration with dancersDancers: @20addiel05 @gabby.fernn @hillmarae18 @mjade.canzonieri @sarahkristensenn @lauren.c.massey “Lunareth” is about navigating various changing relationships throughout life as we get older. This word is a poetic term for the ache of realizing someone was meant for your life, but only for a brief season and not the whole story. The piece moves in small bursts of dancers to represent looking back on memories. It reveals the different feelings that are brought out during these periods of reflection from what was once had. The final moments of this piece represent the resistance to change and the desperation one feels in these seemingly pivotal moments. The piece finally ends with the dancers in hugs, with one dancer sliding out from the others grip to symbolise the acceptance of the end and moving on. To my cast, thank you for being vulnerable and bringing this vision of mine to life. You all were stunning and were a joy to watch. It has been an incredible honor to be working so closely with this beautiful human being. Sav’s capstone holds a special place in my heart and I’m getting so excited to bring her vision to life. We’re exploring our relationship with the natural world around us. How the natural world affects us and how there is no clear border to where we as humans end and where nature begins. Sav, I look up to you not only as an inspiration but also as an older sister. I can’t wait for next semester to perform your beautiful work.
