I walked into a vortex of wonder and had the best week. It felt like standing in a cathedral made of sound. Three days in a commemorative mood: Chris Brown’s 20 years at Breezy Bowl. Emily King’s ‘Seven’ turning 15. Khruangbin’s 10 year journey with ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’.

All these anniversaries, all this music that scored my life, suddenly in conversation with each other. Then, Miguel performed in a room of 250 people. That just doesn’t happen.

I got to stand inside that convergence, not just as a witness, but as a steward. Seven years of tending this space.

This week rearranged me. It reminded me why I do this. Why I lose sleep, why I create spaces for artists to be witnessed. It was about alignment and seeing how love for music can turn into service to it. I’m in awe.

I had an idea recently and it involves YOU (or someone you know)…👀

i’m endlessly in love with the sky and most of the pictures i take when i travel are of pretty much only that.

1 & 2. sunrise en route to australia.
3. their version of pigeons but way too big to be so numerous.
4. walking back to the hotel after an amazing vietnamese dinner in brisbane.
5. hot air balloons on a melbourne morning.

Almost 8.5 years ago, I asked @khruangbin to play this song at their first NYC show at Rough Trade. They hadn’t dedicated it to memory then, but played it the next time they came to NYC. Three nights ago, they played it at their sold out Hollywood Bowl show. I’m fullllll of feelings right now. Enjoy “The Recital That Never Happened.” #Khruangbin #hollywoodbowl by @elle.epiphany

Listening to @khruangbin play “August 10” on August 10th at a sold out @hollywoodbowl show, performed with an orchestra under the direction of @dhodgeworld is multiple levels of top-tier. I think I’m still floating and still haven’t figured out how to succinctly capture my feelings. I’m just completely taken with joy, pride, and gratitude right now. Thank you to every person responsible for this moment. It was a highlight of the evening and meant so much to me. My grandfather used to make these biscuits that I haven’t tasted in decades but can still recall. For the last few years of his life, he had a paralyzed vocal chord and it was difficult for him to speak clearly. He hated repeating himself and I hated asking him to but often really couldn’t understand what he was saying. A few years before he passed, I asked him for his biscuit recipe. After he died, I searched high and low, frantically and with anguish, but it was nowhere to be found. I just found it and immediately cried. So grateful. 🙏🏾✨💛 by @elle.epiphany
