The Art of Play ✨ This styled shoot is a coming-of-age for me as a wedding planner and designer… a chance to show just how much my skillset and vision has grown as I’ve evolved my work. When planning these looks, I thought of the clients who I most love to serve: diverse couples who are head-over-heels in love, living in the city, well-dressed, bold personalities, who love having friends over for a dinner party and who work too hard during the week NOT to have some playfulness in their special moments. Exactly seven years ago, I coordinated my first Elle Events wedding— two months after starting my business. 😅550 people. 95 degrees and endlessly humid. 2 tents. 1 very eager and slightly underprepared lady (hint: the lady was me!) I carry that beautiful, bold wedding with me to every wedding I have planned since and am a better person and planner for all the lessons it taught me. 1️⃣Your culture is not an afterthought. Let it take up space in your celebration. 2️⃣Traditions are powerful and yet have capacity to be reimagined. Do you!3️⃣Any successful wedding is accomplished by a team. Build strong relationships with folks committed to excellence and care. 4️⃣Presence beats perfection any day of the week. Focus on making people feel seen and valued. 5️⃣ Listen first. Respond and react second. 6️⃣It is a privilege to be trusted by couples such an intimate and sacred day. You know you need a planner (HINT: YOU REALLY DO!) ✨Before you dive into conversations with potential planning teams, here are three key questions to consider to make those connections as fruitful as possible: 1️⃣ Who do we want in the room? While an exact number is not 100% necessary, it will allow your planner to give a realistic sense of the considerations to make regarding your guest count. Not to mention, it will make sourcing the ideal venue much more fruitful. 2️⃣ What lights us up? Knowing your essential components and what you value goes a long way. An unforgettable food experience? Floral design that drops jaws?! An iconic venue? Knowing what you value and what will matter to your folks is an important way to narrow in on event priorities. 3️⃣ How much am I willing to invest in this experience? While a planner can advise on realistic numbers given your priorities, it helps to have these conversations clearly and openly prior to connecting with planners. Your planner can then advise on matching your event priorities to a budget that reflects the market and sets your event up for success.
