Brighton look out! Members of the Sounds Like Home are performing TOMORROW evening at @fabricagallery as part of the @onesongproject exhibition opening. It’s our first trip out of the city to celebrate our origin story, the Brighton rendition of the One Song video installation project which inspired the choir’s set up 4 years ago, all thanks to @kadkarababa 🩷 Doors open at 6pm and we’re on promptly at 6:45pm. We had a gorgeous time performing at @escapetothefarmuk last weekend! Sing for Freedom Choir are back in action next week, the new term is starting and we’re open to new members! Sessions are every Thursday lunchtime from 11:45am-1:45pm, Christchurch Community Centre Highbury 🎶 We are a community of survivors and friends who sing together in a spirit of joy and hope with all those who are oppressed. We are so incredibly excited to welcome the Avalon Community Choir back to Escape to the Farm for 2026!!! 🎉 After travelling down from South East London, they smashed it out of the park last year (or rather, the field! Or tent?) and drew a great crowd with their moving music and heartfelt lyrics. 🎤 You absolutely mustn't miss them this year.

Avalon Choir is a lively and social community of singers based at Avalon Cafe in SE London.

Open access and non-audition the group is ever growing in size and character, meeting weekly since January 2023 for the joy and collective power of singing in multiple, acapella harmony.

The repertoire is varied and unique, combining new compositions, Eastern-European folk and noughties Pop classics with resistance songs for social justice and environmental projection. We shift the focus from sheet music and printed words to an embodied and live connection with ourselves and one another.

The choir performs regularly, raising money for local and international grassroots struggles including migrant support, anti-deportation activist legal fees, community housing campaigns, and frontline humanitarian support in Gaza. by @ellen.elgar

Sounds Like Home have a gig coming up and you’re all invited! We’re delighted to be collaborating with @londonseashantycollective on ‘Songs for Sanctuary’ - an outdoor event of music, solidarity and joyful resistance at @dalstongarden on Thursday 16th July! Sea shanties for safe passage, a warm welcome and a life of dignity and respect for all those who arrive to our shores!
