So much love for our Utah National Guard Family! I don't even know how to put in words what a roller coaster the last few months has been. But very, very long story short we are back! It was so great this past week to spend time with the military families that we have grown with for over two decades. We celebrated a retirement of one of our favorote soldiers and had a blast at the Avaition ball as it was the perfect welcome home. by @ellen.johnson

Today was lovely. Richard and I started the morning with a sunrise date, bringing treats for the wild chickens. We ended up making an unexpected new friend...a curious wild pig who happily joined us for breakfast. On the way home, we took a spontaneous side quest to hike to a beautiful waterfall.
Before pulling onto our street, we stopped to visit my rescue rooster, Toa. As soon as he saw us, he proudly called over his little flock to come say hello, which completely melted my heart.
After packing up the car, we headed back out for an afternoon of fishing with Atlas. He had an incredible day, catching a black-tailed snapper, a parrotfish, and a surge wrasse. We brought them home and finished off the perfect day by frying up our fresh catch with a homemade lemon garlic sauce😋 by @ellen.johnson

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped me this week with finishing up the homes in The Gambia. My friend Muhammed is incredibly grateful and asked me to share this video with you.

After purchasing all the concrete and supplies needed to build the bathroom, there was a little money left over. I told him to use it to buy a TV. It's the first television in their village! They absolutely love watching sports, and now the children have a safe place to gather instead of walking to neighboring villages hoping someone will let them watch.

Our next big project is drilling a borehole to provide clean water for the entire village. The total cost is about $1,200, and if anyone feels inspired to help, donations made through the 501(c)(3) are tax-deductible. Venmo is @justaskellen

The contractor also sent me a video showing what the finished borehole will look like, so I wanted to share that with you as well.

Thank you again for helping change Muhammads life and enriching the lives of those in his villiage❤️ by @ellen.johnson

I've never really shared much about this little side quest of mine, but over the past several years it's become one of the most meaningful things I've ever been a part of and I need some help.

Almost seven years ago, my interest in regenerative farming led me to a small village in The Gambia, West Africa. Through that, I met a wonderful young man named Dawda that blew me away with what he could do with very little resources. After getting to know him my goal was simply to help him get the supplies he needed to grow more food and better support his village.

Over the years what started as a shared interest became a real friendship. I got to know Dawda, his family, and many others in the village. Sadly, earlier this year, Dawda lost his life in a boating accident while attempting to reach Europe in hopes of finding better work to support his family. It was a heartbreaking loss for everyone who knew him.

Rather than letting Dawda's dream of creating a better future for his village end with him, we've continued working alongside the people he loved to help however we can. Over the past year, Reina and I have expanded our efforts by rebuilding homes for several families, while also providing tools, supplies, and other resources that improve their quality of life.

Reina has developed such a heart for the children and has focused much of her time on helping them, while I've been primarily focused on the construction projects. Our next bigger goal is to drill a borehole to provide a more reliable source of clean water and to build new bathrooms that offer families greater privacy, dignity, and improved sanitation.

How is another one of my kids entering her 20's?? I had an absolute blast running away to Kauai to celebrate this milestone with Miss Marley. Marley is literal sunshine. She brings so much light and joy to our life! (An extra dose of excitement too...but we wouldnt want in any other way!) I can't wait to see what this next year brings as she continues pursuing her passions and keeps us all on our toes as she does it. Love you Marley!!! taken in Nā Pali Coast, Kauai Island by @ellen.johnson

So proud of this girl. 🎓💛

After so much hard work, she officially graduated this spring and will be starting this fall as a 5th grade teacher at Beehive Science & Technology Academy! One of the top rated schools in Utah (and the nation😳)!! She’ll also be beginning her Master’s in Education program this summer as she works toward earning her teaching license.

So many people have kindly asked what she would like for graduation gifts, and honestly the thing she is most excited about is setting up her very first classroom. If anyone would like to help contribute, I’ll link her Amazon classroom wishlist below.

We are so proud of Miss Reina and can’t wait to see the impact she makea on her students. 🍎✨
