I’m still trying to go through the video clips I took at “The Howl” on Saturday night. The Nancy Atlas produced, amazing, unbelievable concert to benefit music education in the Sag Harbor school district through Nancy’s not for profit Atlas for the Arts was one kick ass performance after another. Just when I thought I didn’t need to grab any more video somebody else that I had to have a little piece of that moment saved would step up to the Mic. I always wanna save a little clip of A Rose Kerin, especially if her Mama is with her!

It’s baaaaack….. here comes the Whale… well next exactly yet but next Saturday the Whale takes its rightful place in the Harbor. Join us on Long Wharf, Steinbeck Park, Marine Park and all over the Village for HarborFest 2026! I will be on windmill Beach helping call out the Whale boat races with some commentary on the side. If you see it, you can be it. I love how the young girls who, this summer have flocked to the front of the stage every sunset Wednesday at @thesurflodge to watch and interact with @nancyatlas are seeing and hearing what Nancy’s puts out into the world. So happy with our house paint job. Love the color and everything about it. The front porch is being redone and we need to replant a few things but so far- new roof, repair of rotten areas causing further water damage- window frames repaired and replaced. I can’t wait for it all to be done. But now I just want to move outside and look at it! @ajpaintingli did an awesome job. Today would have been my mom‘s 89th birthday. She died about four months before her 69th birthday. I can’t believe it’s been that long.
I’ve probably said all I can about her, the good, the bad and everything in between. What remains for me is how hard she tried to be the kind of mother she thought she was supposed to be and to be the kind of person she wanted to be. She had a lot of things going against her, and she did not have an easy life at all. But I always knew how much she loved me and if anything, she did too much for me.
I get a lot of of my community spirit from her. She was a Girl Scout leader. She was a Candy striper at Mather Hospital in Port Jeff. She showed up at meetings about the Three Village area snd she fought for causes she believed in. She had national organization for women meetings in our house after she and my dad divorced. She fought for open records for people who had put children up for adoption and wanted to make sure that they were OK and reach out to them and she did make that fight for herself and did find the daughter that she had been forced to give up for adoption when she was very young. She supported Planned Parenthood. She was on the East Hampton LVIS committees, running the Fabric Barn at the annual Fair. The list goes on and on.
She was a well respected real estate sales person in East Hampton for many years. She was most of all for me my loving mom and I really wish I’d had more time with her. I’ve taken all the good I can and I’ve looked at the bad parts of things and I’ve tried to learn from them, and I can only hope that she would be proud of me. I know she would be incredibly delighted at the life that I have led and that makes me happy.
This is my favorite pictures I think of the two of us, at least that I have and can get easy access to. I have it framed in my living room and in my bedroom, cause it makes me smile.
