POSTS STORIES REELS

Last week, in the framework of @iyrp2026 I represented our pastoral projects in Denmark when visiting the Festival de la Trashumancia in Madrid.

In Spain, transhumance - the seasonal movement of livestock between grazing areas - has been on the @unesco Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2023.

Since 1994 @fundacion_trashumancia is organizing Fiesta de la Trashumancia and symbolically implementing the historical agreement “Concordia de 1418” where herders would pay a fee to the city of Madrid to pass with their flocks upon their seasonal transhumance.

2026: FN’s internationale år for Rangelands and Pastoralism.

After the @fao Field Trip, 14-15 August continued with the @iyrp2026 Global Pastoralists Gathering and Conference in Ulaanbaatar where the main goal on the 15th, after presentations and summaries on discussions on Youth- and Women’s Pastoralists Declarations on the 14th, was to finalize the

‘Ulaanbaatar Declaration: Global pastoralists and Indigenous pastoralists’ call to action’

which has been presented at the @cop17mongolia @unccd RESTORING LAND. RESTORING HOPE. COP17 taking place right now from August 17-28 2026.

Crucial for the finalization of the Declaration was the voices of a number of Pastoralists themsleves who gathered at the conference. On the next day more than 130 pastoralists - including Mongolian nomads, unable to attend in Ulaanbaatar - gathered for the World Pastoralist Assembly (WPA) organized by the World Alliance of Mobile Indigenous Peoples and Pastoralists (WAMIP) @wamip.global in Gorkhi Terenji in the Tüv Province of Mongolia on August 16 2026.

Here are pictures from both sessions and two attempts to document some of the oral traditions I was lucky to be presented to.

A special thanks for my invitation to INLAND Campo Adentro @inland_campoadentro by whom I attended the ‘Inland Academy - art, agroecology and territory’ in 2024-25 in Spain and France, and to the pastoralist associations ‘Lystbækgaard’ and ‘Får til Kanten’ whom I work with in Denmark.

Invited by @inland_campoadentro I travelled with European Shepherds Network @wamip.global @iyrp2026 and pastoralist delegates from the whole world, on one out of six @fao @unccd Field Trips of the Global Pastoralist Gathering and Conference, in the Govi-Sumber Province from August 10-13 2026. Here are impressions with nomads and common delegates, horses, fermented horsemilk, cashmere goats, sheep, camels and the ancestral grounds of Chinggis Khan.

Special thanks to @inland_campoadentro and the Danish pastoral association ‘Får til Kanten’ 🐑

Until I have a proper documentation of the exhibition - is here a short review from Kunstavisen about the exhibition ‘Skynd dig kom om føje aar… Billeder fra heden’ (created with Hedeselskabet and Klimatorium) and my exhibition ‘Mindesmærker om gensidighed med heden’ with my artworks related to the heathlands from the past years. I was invited to create the exhibition by Museet for Guldalderkunst and art historian Allis Helleland - who sadly passed away five days prior to the opening on 13 May 2026.

After the idea of Allis Helleland, filmmaker Heine Sand has created a short film documenting my earthworks of the past years and well as the new sculpture in process, made with local sheepfaeces from Gjellerodde in Lemvig.

The exhibition is supported by Lemvig Kommune - and the volunteers from Museet for Guldalderkunst - thank you!

Both exhibitions are on view until 18 October 2026

One year of living in northwestern Jutland.

These photos from around Tihøje, Præstbjerg, Vind, Gjellerodde and Trans (with art collector Frank Nicolajsen), were shot by Heine Sand this April, in the time of filming the short documentary for my current exhibition ‘Mindesmærker om gensidighed med heden’.

The film is telling the story of the last three years of my artistic practice - and a sculpture yet to come.

The exhibition is supported by Jysk Energi and Lemvig Kommune.

On view until 18 October 2026.

In June and August, I am hosting ‘Lille Hyrdeskole’ as a collaboration between the shepherds school Hyrdeskolen @lystbaekgaard and the local museum of cultural history Hjemstavnsgården Gjellergaard, at Gjellerodde in Lemvig.

Today, the following two Sundays at 1pm and every Tuesday and Thursday in August at 4pm.

Come celebrate the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralism @iyrp2026 with the sheep, their wool and faeces in the particular spit landscape (krumodde), where the sheep from Lystbækgaard are grazing since 16 years - and try the kringle and learn the history of Gjellergaard, run by local volunteers.

‘Hyrdeskolen’ is supported by Landdistriktspuljen and LAG Ringkøbing-Skjern.

If you do make it all the way to Lemvig, you are also welcome to visit the heathland exhibition ‘Skynd dig kom, om føje aar…’ and my soloexhibition with contemporary artworks about the heathland titled ‘Mindesmærker om gensidighed med heden’ at Museet for Guldalderkunst, Havnegade 14, 7620 Lemvig.

sound performance and artist talk

groupexhibition weaving into the eastermarket @lystbaekgaard
29.03.2026

For ‚Audio-Monument No. 7’, herding calls were performed, and the bell ‚Niezapominajka‘ (2016) was activated in the open landscape around Lystbæk, Western Jutland, Denmark. The bell served as an indicator of the route, guiding the participants as they collectively walked back to Lystbækgaard from the location of Det Gule Hus.

Followed by an artist talk on sculpture, earthworks, heathlands, shepherding and @nvg_hedekontor
