Some people fall in love with people.I fall in love with staircases.There’s something about a spiral that undoes me completely. The way it rises like a sentence that refuses to end. Before it was mine, it belonged to the city.Engine Company No. 206 once called this building home. For decades, firefighters rushed into Brooklyn nights from behind those doors. Later, the building became an underground music venue. Then artists moved in and stayed for thirty years.Firefighters. Then outlaws. Then artists. Then me.Every building has a biography. This one reads like a Brooklyn novel.Sixteen-foot barrel vaulted ceilings. Exposed brick. Skylights pouring light across the floors all day. And hidden behind the kitchen walls, a spiral staircase waiting to be found.I found it.What interested me most was never turning the building into something pristine. It was continuing its story.The building was never meant to become quiet.Last summer, more than 300 souls moved through these rooms for Pride. Music echoing from floor to floor. Neighbors opening their doors. People dancing up and down the staircases until morning, turning the entire block into a kind of living, breathing playground.For one night, the old firehouse became what it has always been at its core: a place for gathering, expression, chaos, joy, and reinvention.Different decade. T&C Hotel Spy After a three-year renovation, The Inn at Hancock in New Hampshire—one of the oldest in the Granite State—is reopening.“My aim was to create a property that feels both timeless and alive, animated by vibrant color palettes, distinctive patterns, and richly layered materials.
